I know from experience that if you don't eat enough your body thinks it's in starvation mode and will hold on to the calories you are eating. The less you eat the slower you will loose weight.
I used the points system with WW so it's hard for me to give you an example, but make sure you are eating 5 servings of fruits or vegetables, 2 servings of milk or milk products, whole grain foods, limit healthy oils and be sure to get enough proteins. Lots of WATER. Portion control is the key!! 1 serving is 1 cup or a medium fruit. 3 oz. of protein is a serving. Eat all the salad you want as long as it doesn't have high fat dressing. Be careful with the condiments. Make fruits and veggies the largest part of your meal. And don't skip meals thinking that it will help. It doesn't!! For bread I used to buy light whole grain. You can have 2 slices and it is a serving. So you can enjoy a sandwich.
Here is a great veggie soup recipe you can make and eat all you want. I used to make alot!
2/3 cup carrots
1/2 cup diced onion
2 cloves minced garlic
3 cups fat free broth (beef, veggie or chicken)
1 1/2 cups diced cabbage
1/2 cup greenbeans
1 tablespoon tomatoe paste
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup diced zucchini
In a large pot with nonstick spray saute the carrots, onions, and garlic over low heat until soft. Add broth ,cabbage, beans, tomatoe paste, spices and salt, bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer about 15 minutes or until beans are tender. Stir in zucchini and heat another 3-4 minutes. Enjoy all you want. 42 calories, 0 fat 2g fiber
Remember to limit sweets. I use to, and still do have Edy's low fat ice cream for my treat at night. I only have about cup and it's great! also I like the Jello fat free puddings. But you have to limit yourself!! Try to eat at least 1,000 calories each day
Let me know if I can be more help! Diane0 -
I've lost 3lbs, but i have
I've lost 3lbs, but i have to say I haven't been eating very well or much lately. I'm not too excited cause it comes back on pretty fast. Water retention could be a problem for some of you on chemo. Good luck!

I've lost 1 1/2 lbs. But
I've lost 1 1/2 lbs. But like Jan I put it back on quickly. I have just cut out the junkie food and I am walking 20 minutes each day. And I agree with the statement that eating too little can actual be a bad idea. I have always had yo yo weight. Long ago I used to fast two days a week to lose weight. It worked but it also slows the metabolism so that then you have to do more to lose the same amount. I also tended to skip breakfast and lunch and eat dinner only. Puts your body in that starvation mode. The best way to lose is to cut portions, exercise and limit what my grandson calls the sometimes food group (sugar, sweets, fast food etc). I wish I had been better in my diet methods when I was younger. My body is so slow to metabolize that I have to work more to burn less than I did back then. But I am determined to lose my ** lbs. and to hopefully keep it off. I am so happy for this challenge. It is just what I need. Pammy eat 3 small meals with good snacks and do some aerobic exercise. The 10 lbs you want to lose are the hardest of all to get off. It can be slow going but you can do it.

Well, the scale says I've
Well, the scale says I've lost 1.8 pounds. But that doesn't mean anything because my weight varies from day to day anyway. I'll probably have it all back tomorrow.
My onc told me to not diet while on treatment. Should you guys still in treatment be doing this?0 -

I knew it!!
Didn't I warn you that I would post that I gained!! Ha, ha! Sounds like a good bit of us are doing pretty good. Diane, thanks for the recipe....I am going to make that tomorrow. My biggest problem is that I stay up all hours of the night and want to snack, snack, snack!! Doc said it was OK to lose the weight that I gained from quitting smoking or to get back to my reg. body weight. Never thought to tell every one to check with Doc first!!Pammy

I kind of feel the same way that you do,I'm not a medical professional, but I kind of wonder if it's a good idea for you guys still going through treatments(especially chemo)to be dieting.I would ask your onc first.I could be wrong but I have a feeling that they may not want you to.
And yeah, makes me mad too that someone would sign on just to advertise on here-this isn't the first time that's ever happened though!0
