When will it go away. OK it's livable with, but not very pleasant.
ALSO! One of you mentioned stuffing rice into a sock to use as a falsie (can't spell prosthetwatever)
Question?......What Flavour? and do you cook it first?

Tasha, I didn't have chemo nor am I taking Tamoxifen, so, sorry, I can't help you with that part.
And, your second comment about the rice, just let me say
I AM ROFLMAO!
Love, Noel
I am still having problems with my taste, and am on Tamoxifen(almost a year our to tx). I think it is related. Guess we are just in the group that has hit the lucky button on the taste buds.
As far as the rice, if I were you, I would use wild rice (just for the name if nothing else), and definitely cook it.....you know the saying "some like it hot". Good luck, and thanks for the chuckle....I needed that.
Hugs.

RICE
Hi Tasha, my mom used to uncooked short grained rice stuffed in a sock and use it in place of a prothesis she did this on both sides and did it for years. I actually have one of her bras with the rice socks inside the cups. I choose to order a regular prothesis and found it to be quite comfortable prior to reconstruction. There are a lot of different types and some are quite light and comfortable.
Is the odd taste the metal taste we sometimes get with chemo? I always used heavy plastic utensils to help ease the metal taste. Mine lasted for about six months after the last chemo. Hope this helps.

Taste Buds
Not sure if "off" taste sensations could be attributed to the Tamoxifen.
Dear J - I'm 5+ years ago done with chemo. During chemo, my taste buds went TOTALLY haywire. Once treatment finished, they mostly balanced back out. However, even now, many things simply don't taste "right" - and, some things are downright unpleasant. So, I avoid them. I have quite a list of things I no longer eat/drink.
According to my med onc, this is due to permanent damage from the chemotherapy. I was told that some patients don't regain their taste sensations at all, as worst case scenario.
(sigh)
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Tasha, I can't help you with the taste, but, it is probably still from chemo. And, the rice question, LOL! You are so funny! You can always make me smile!

How about jello? It would bounce, might have the feel of a real boob. Okay, It would melt but everything has drawbacks. LOL. Actually rice does sound rather perfect. And it should definitely be wild rice.

Wait~ let me understand this correctly. You have Bad Taste? You? Perish the thought! Why, you are the Queen of Decorum, and the Arbiter of All Things Tasteful. So, gosh Tasha, I dunno....LOL LOL

Rice Stuffing and Taste
Plain old rice, Tasha? I'd expect something more exotic for you. Basmati Rice? Wild rice, at least. My taste buds returned for the most part a few weeks after my last chemo. Like Susan, there are some things I just don't like anymore; but most foods taste fine. Have you tried using sea salt? I read that it can provide more flavor when chemo affects your taste. Experiment with different seasonings, maybe?0
