I keep learning every time I read all of your gracious comments.. What is the heart scan before chemo? Also I had read that if you were est/prog/ positive, that a hysterectomy(at least ovaries removed) ... Whats that all about??? Just keep feeding me more information, I am so grateful for all of you!!

    Heart scan
Some people are on chemo meds that might cause heart problems so a heart scan or echo or muga are done through treatment to make sure there is nothing happening to the function of your heart. I have one every three months.

    Angel, when BC metasticizes
Angel, when BC metasticizes it often does in the uterus so many wome opt for a hysterectomy. Also if you have hormone positive cancer removing the uterus and ovaries decreases the amount of hormones in your body. This is how I understand it anyway. I am going to go to a high risk specialist at some point to discuss the hysterectomy for myself. It looks like menopause at 33 for me.

    They sometimes want you to
They sometimes want you to remove your ovaries if you are ER and PR positve as the tamoxifen you might take for hormone therapy can cause ovarian cancer. So, that would take that one risk away. Also, your ovaries do produce estrogen and you want all of the estrogen out of your body.

I, personally, would never have a hysterectomy for any of those reasons. It is one surgery that I don't want and so many women have a lot of other problems after it is done. One is that their bladder falls down and they have to construct a sling or something to hold it up.

    Good luck Angel!

    Some women have their
Some women have their ovaries removed or a hysterectomy to try and make sure they don't get ovarian cancer. I will not personally, but, a lot do. Also, a lot of women that take tamoxifen end up having to have one because of all of the problems with it.

    I had a muga scan,ultra
I had a muga ascan, ultra sound, echocardiogram. This tells the Doctor what kind of Chem you can have.I could not get the best stuff because my heart would not take it. But Doctor told me that did not mean I would get cancer again. Never heard of the hysterectomy. Maybe because I had one about 20 years ago.
