Okay all my fine friends, do any of you suffer from muscle spasms in the chest area on the sides you had your surgeries. I have had them ever since the lumpectomy, so far the mastectomy side is less fierce. Today I did a bit of grocery shopping and managed to manhandled a few "way to heavy for me" items. Since then I have had massive muscle spasms in my chest that nearly bring me to my knees. These are the worst I have had in years, holy cow!!!! I see my onco and have put it on my list of concerns. Just looking to see if any of you have had the same.

Hugs,

    Muscle spasms
RE, I have never had a chest muscle spasm, but I am here just to let you know how sorry I am that you are in pain. Have you told any doctors in the past about the spasms? If so, what have they said? I am hoping that someone that is on who is familiar with spasms will read your post and reply. (Very gentle) Hugs back, Lynn

don't try lifting too much, you know that can lead to problems. I'm sorry about your spasms, that sounds bad. I get pains in the chest muscle of the affected breast, and sometimes they are shooting pains, but never spasms. Yes, I would talk to the doc about that.
    Take care of yourself!!!!

    I have muscle spasms alot
I have muscle spasms alot but am still recovering from surgery i just had four weeks ago. The other day it was worse because i increased my energy level and did more. My plastic surgeon prescribed flexeril and/or valium for them and it seems to help. I hope they get better, i know how you feel. Good luck

I have muscle spasms every time I lift or try to use a rake or any motion that I am not constantly doing. It feels like a clenched fist and is very annoying! I have sat with a heating pad, trying to relieve them.
Let me know if your onc has any suggestions!

    Thank you
Lynn thank you, I have had these before but not to this extent. I have been told it is related to the surgery and rads. Today's were enough to stop me in my tracks. I do plan on telling my doc and I will let you all know what he says. Also thank you for you concern, it is greatly appreciated.

I don't usually lift things that are too heavy, today was just a rare situation. A man at the store I was at did help me when he saw me struggling. You can be assured I won't be lifting anything heavy anytime soon.

    Sorry RE
I don't know if that is what I have or not. I sometimes have shooting pains on the side where I had the radiation. They do hurt pretty bad, but, don't last a long time. I am so sorry that yours are so painful. I hope your oncologist can help you out. Please let us know what he tells you and how you are feeling today!

    Sometimes I get what feels
Sometimes I get what feels like a pulled muscle in the surgery side of chest when I reach extremely. Like trying to pull a boot on. It doesn't happen all the time but a couple times. It hurts though and I stop and let someone help me. Not sure if this is what you are having...Mine stops when I stop reaching. I did not have reconstruction either. Hope you get relief.

    Learning a Lot
I am sure learning a lot from you ladies and I thank you so much........Last night I got an incredible muscle spasm on the right side where my lumpectomy was done. Its a good thing I live alone, because the sounds that came out of me sounded like a camel baying in the desert - LOL. This is the second time its happened and I just put it down as pulling a muscle or sitting in a draft. Not that I'm glad we get these spasms, its good to know that they are common amongst us. I have an appointment w/my oncologist tomorrow and will ask her for a prescription for muscle relaxents, maybe that will help. I do know that I got up from bed, took three Alleve and rubbed Biofreeze all over the area and within 15 minutes was back in bed and falling asleep. If you can't find biofreeze, go on line - that stuff is fantastic. I first got some at my podiatrist for an ankle problem, then the chiropractor's office recommended it. Good Luck and I hope you are all feeling better!

    WHEW!
Well, today is much better just a bit stiff in that area. Tomorrow I am having a battery of tests done all heart related to make sure all that is a okay. My onco visit is not for another week. Trust me I certainly will not be lifting anything the least bit heavy as I do not wish for an encore presentation. Thank you all for your responses and kind words.

    Oh, dear RE...
So sorry for your pain and discomfort. Glad it's subsided; and, YES - please don't "overdo" with the heavy lifting.

Hoping for good results from all of today's tests. You'll be in my thoughts.

    Kind regards, Susan
