Well, just came from the doctor, and it is not lympedema, but rather it is a pulled muscle in the middle of my back that radiates up to the shoulder and then down the middle of my outer arm. They recommend a good massage therapist, and some physical theraphy. Thought all of you would get a kick out of the question the doctor asked...."Have you been under a lot of stress lately?" I'm sure it took me a few seconds to compute that question, and I asked him to read through my file once more. Red faced, and a bit apologitic, he told me that definitely the miscle spasams could be caused from "chemo/rads/hormone theraphy/neurological disease caused by meds/etc, etc. You think? Just wanted to check back in with my report. Hope all are doing well. Hugs. Judy

just LOL. Especially, a doctor. Wouldn't you think that a doctor would know better?

Judy, I am relieved to hear that your arm pain was not lymphedema. I knew your PCP was going to monitor you--glad that you had it checked out thoroughly right away rather than waiting til August.
Funny episode with the doctor! Bet he will pay more attention to patients' files before asking that question in future. Would like to have seen YOUR expression.
Let us know how it goes with the massage and physical therapy. They will help prevent lymphedema, too.0 -
It occurs to me
that maybe your non-lympedema problem was put there to give you a chance to learn about lymphedema so that you can prevent it. As a side note: This may sound hokey, but I've been visualizing my arm as healed and it really does feel better, as I am feeling better in general. Wh..ew! Who could guess that life can take such twists and turns? Lynn0 -

Thank you for your replies. Moopy, I am sure the look on my face would have been self explanatory, and I also think that the doctor immediately picked up on it. He sure scampered to read my history, apologizing all the while.
I have made an appointment with a Massage Therapist, who is also an oncology RN, for tomorrow morning. She is fortunately right in my neighborhood, and has come highly recommended by a couple of my friends who have gone through b/c and treatment. Any relief will be wonderful. There is always a reason why, and maybe this was put here for me to learn how to prevent lymphodema in the future. Whatever the reason, I am looking forward to someone actually being able to help relieve the pain. Will keep everyone informed.
One other note, I had another brain MRI this week, and there is no change in the meningioma they found a few months ago. Maybe it has been there a long time, and just never given me any problem. Always good to have some positive news. Hugs to all,

Judy, and am glad you have have good folks taking care of you. I had a massage from my lympedema specialist. It didn't make my lymphedema go away back then, but it sure felt wonderful and relaxing. She was so patient! Hope your massage does the trick. xoxoxo...Lynn0
