Mine was radiated just like yours, but the worst of the burn is at the tumor site. What will be removed is the badly radiated skin, the area the got the boosters, the area that has the lumps underneath that they say comes from the radiation, and enough to make a realistic looking breast on the right side of my right breast. Figure an eye shape (or if you know what a bisquit for woodworking looks like) with the points facing up and down.
Hope that helps you to visualize it.

Yes, that helps cat. I do find it interesting, and, that is why I keep asking questions about it. I have never heard of it before. Thanks for educating me and helping me to understand! I appreciate it.0 -
Another option for post-lumpectomy reconstruction...susie09 said:Yes, that helps cat. I do

Prior to my own lumpectomy (almost 6 years ago), my surgeon discussed the possible option of an implant. These types of implants are custom sized and shaped specific to the patient's need (vs. the better known implants that enhance existing breasts or replace those lost to mastectomy).

That's me at this point. After a little over two months since surgery, it is obvious that my new foobs don't match. The right one is round and full, and almost healed over; the left one (the ex-cancer side)is slightly smaller and a different shape, the skin looks weird, and it's healing much slower.
My plastic surgeon keeps saying, "Oh don't worry, just let them heal and we can do another little surgery to tweek them..." I'm not sure if I want "another little surgery"...it may be a matter of vanity, but on the other hand I don't know if I'll be able to find bras that fit both sides. And maybe I should wait 6 months, forego any tattooing for now (she wanted to do that in September), and see what they feel/look like then (the muscles are still really sore, especially when I try to do anything in the way of working out).
Anyway, it's nice to know that others are struggling with their reconstruction issues. Thanks for sharing RE, and everyone else!
Hugs,
Debi0
