What a difference a good doctor can make!!!
He is a breast cancer specialist... and the cancer center was incredible... They ran some tests, BRAC2 & 3, the one to see if I produce that enzime the will counter act the Temoxifine.. and checked my levels of Vitamin (sp) D.. (I don't know what that's about)...
All I can say is, though we still don't know my treatment plan yet, we have to wait for the Oncotype DX results, I feel so much better even though I don't know anything more than I did before my appointment.
I will get the results to the Oncotype DX by next Monday... so that will solitify what will happen next...
I will be packing my suitcase next Thursday and getting on an airplane to WA state for our family vacation... he said.."GO!"... Yea...I will meet with him for all details of the tests and my final treatment plan on July 28th...
Well.. all I can say is, if you are not comfortable with your doctor... don't be afraid to change... I did... and my spirits, and confidence are better for it!
Hug everyone!!

I am glad that everything is falling into place. It makes a world of difference when you have confidence in your team. Have fun in WA and hope that your Onco # is low, low, low.

I am glad that you like your new oncologist and that he is working with you--that is important. He knows we aren't just numbers that we are people.
Have a great time on vacation.

So, so, so happy to hear you are now in the hands of an oncologist who seems to be both knowledgeable and caring! Now get out there and enjoy you time on vaca with your family.

I am so glad you like the new doc. I find it so sad when I read about someone not being treated nice by the docs, nurses and techs. Some people have said they feel like objects. It is terrible. You seem to feel like a person with this one! I have been so lucky to have great people taking care of my treatment also.

Sounds like this oncologist is a keeper. Glad you decided to go for a second opinion. His approach is so much better, giving you a recommendation aftr he has seen all of the test results. After all, he is the expert and can put everything together with his knowledge and experience, and help you sort through your treatment plan.

Another lesson
learned, taking ourselves in our own hands and making assertive decisions like switching docs. I had the same lesson in another way; what a powerful one it is. You sound so much happier. Where are you going in Washington? Best wishes for a wonderful time. Lynn0 -
So happy for you
Wow...that was really sneaky!!! Remember "shoots & ladders" board game? I feel like you made it all the way to the top and landed on that big long ladder that slides you down to the very bottom!! I will be sooooooo far ahead of you missy!! But I am really happy for you! I asked about the enzyme test for the Tamoxefin and my Onco said that it is not yet commercially available. Are you in a study to get that test? I didn't elaborate on it with her because I will also be in a clinical trial that involves Tamoxifen, so I will be having oodles of test done.....maybe that is one. Glad you will have a chance to go on vacation. Really glad that you found someone you are comfortable with. Makes a huge difference, doesn't it? Definitely a spirit booster. Pammy0
