Just a short "Kenny" the dog story......
However, since the minute I was dx'd until now, he has not wanted to leave my side. He has slept by my bed, laid by my chair and just been glued to me. Tell me dogs don't know when something's up!
Before my dx, he was a "normal" dog...not made of velcro.
Anyway, we sat in the waiting room, and the nice lady vet tech came out to get Kenny & take him in back for his blood draw. She took his leash, said "come on Kenny" and started to walk away. He took two steps and stopped. She pulled. He weighs 92 pounds and he wasn't budging. So I got up and pushed his butt while she pulled. He took a couple of steps, turned his head to look at me & sat down.
Again, she pulled and pleaded with him to go with her.
I got up and said to her "he won't leave me". I walked toward the exam room and said "come on Kenny" and he jumped up and trotted after me.
Then I did an about face & went back to the waiting room.
Shortly thereafter, I hear click, click, click coming down the hallway and a woman's high pitched voice saying "yes Kenny, we are going to her now, wait for me"!!
With that, here comes Kenny, barreling around the corner, with the vet tech flying at the end of the leash!
He ran up to me and put his head in my lap.
I just smiled, paid the bill and left.
He is no Lassie, but he is my friend, my nurse, my protector and my love.

What a
sweetheart of a dog! And yes,I've heard that dogs can sense things and know when you're not feeling well!0 -

what a great companion. You cannot call him a pet anymore, he is your buddy. Velcro dog, I love it. Thank you so much for sharing.
My cats did almost the same thing when I came home from surgery, both sat at my side and wouldn't leave for two days. But after that, they became cats again and went outside, but they are always by my side as soon as I go to bed. (sammy boy is in my expressions, I haven't posted a pic of seven yet but should)
Our furry friends know more than most believe or think.

Awesome!
Lassie could not hold a candle to Kenny, he is loyal and obviously loves you a tremendous amount. During my battles with cancer my three cats and my best little bud Grrr would lay on me when I slept and were always near by. It was so evident they knew something was amiss. The cats are still affectionate but have come to their senses, Grrr on the other hand follows me around quite a bit. I love Kenny he sounds like a wonderful friend, you are blessed to have him!

Sweet, sweet Kenny...
Awww, Cindy! Kenny is BETTER than Lassie - don't shortchange him!
The love and companionship we give to and receive from our precious pets is to be truly cherished. I'm so glad you have Kenny, and he has you. I'm imagining that he will be the very best "big brother" ever to your soon to arrive little girl puppy, Dolly.
Thanks for sharing!
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Kenny is a hero in my book. His love for you is pure, no doubt. When is your puppy coming?
I have to tell you that although my older dog, Taz, and Willow the Puppy are getting on well at this point, she still harasses him mercilessly, treating him as a chew toy. And the two of them are like human siblings: whatever one has, the other one wants, even if it's exactly the same thing (e.g. a rawhide toy). I'm going to post a recent picture of the two of them on my Expressions page.
So....I hope Kenny enjoys Dolly!
Love ya,

Oh geez......
Pets are amazing for sure!
He is the only dog who attached himself to me and has never let go. He just KNOWS!
Puppy should be coming home July 10. I'm not sure what Kenny will make of her. I hope that he isn't jealous, because he is so close to me. I think/hope that things will go smoothly.
It's not always easy introducing a new dog, and with the way that Kenny feels about me, I think that I will have someone else bring the puppy in & introduce them. That way, there won't be any "trouble" over me.
Ya just gotta love our furry friends!

The new puppy being female should help, I would think. And you have a great idea about having someone else bring the puppy home. Another idea of I have read of is having the dogs meet on "neutral" territory, not at your home or yard.
Looking forward to hearing about Kenny and his new puppy friend. Bet you will have some cute scenes and stories.0 -

Dogs, fur everywhere; dogs, they smell; dogs, they smell up the house; dogs, they chase cars and cats and get in dog fights; dogs, life would have an empty space the size of a zillion universes without them.
True and well-expressed, Lynn, a tribute to Kenny and to all of our beloved pets.
At the moment, the "smell" part is especially true at our place: it's a bath for our terrier boy tomorrow!0 -

You know I am somewhat partial to Kenny (we have matching hair color!) so please give him a great big hug for me for being such a role model for all pets!! Pammy0 -
