Done with Taxol, YES!!!...I have questions??

I am FINALLY done, never thought this day would come. I was really excited prior to thr treatment, but when I got home I lost every bit of enegy I had. I feel EXHAUSTED!! Is that normal?? After the other treatments I did not feel this tired.

Do my oncologist suppose to run any test. After my appointment with her they only thing she said is that she would see me in 3 months. After reading some of the threads I thought I would take a few tests...MRI, PET SCAN or BONE SCAN. What is the norm...if anyone knows.

I forgot to ask my oncologist, but I asked two different nurse about the time frame for removing my port. One said 3 month, the other said 1 year. Should I ask this question to my surgeon or my oncologist. Is there a particular time frame for removal?

I also was asked to do the clinical trial for the bone medications. I know one is Boniva. There are 3, one of the is given through IV. If I am picked for that, I don't think I will do it...I am truly tired of getting poked.

    Congrats for finishing Jaavon!!
    I think that feeling very tired is normal. Not to mention the relief of finishing! Now it's time to rest up & restore your body.

    I saw my onc three months after finishing chemo. I still go for my Herceptin infusions, but I won't see my onc again until after I finish that in late Fall.
    The only test that he repeated when I finished, was a MUGA scan to make sure that my heart made it through ok.

    My surgeon is the one who ordered my original PET & bone scans. I see her again next month, after my mammogram on my remaining "girl", but I don't know if she will order anything.
    I also see my rad onc for a check up next month.

    I also don't know about time frame for port removal as mine is still being used for Herceptin.

    ask you oncologist, but most likely they will wait till you have a few clear scans before removing it
    congrats on finishing taxol it is a true bear, I know spent most of my time sleeping after treatment with it.

    Maybe I will call my surgeon. I want it OUT. Also, prior to surgery and chemo he was the one who ordered all my tests.

    I am like Jaavon--after I finish my treatment of Herceptin 8/2010 I want it out ASAP. I don't want to have to wait 3 months or more.

    I have 4 more Taxol treatments.

    Jaavon--you were exhausted probably because it is like a weight lifted and your body finally is relaxing. Give it time.

    All your questions should be answered by your doctor and not the nurses because everyone is different.

    Let us know what you find out.

    Congrats Jaavan on finishing! You are probably exhausted too because you can finally relax and not have to take any more chemo. That is a huge burden off of you, physically and mentally. If you have questions about tests, call your oncologist and ask them. Good luck!

    Finishing chemo is a HUGE accomplishment! Good for you, for seeing it through to the end.

    WOW...
    Today I feel kind of frustrated...I know I am done with chemo but I failed to remember I still have to go thru the side effects of the last treatment. I am "mentally" ready to get up and go but my body will not let me. Ok...I guess I need to let the medicine do it's job and sit my butt down, huh??

    You're right
    You do have to go through the effects of your last treatment--I'm 3 1/2 weeks out of my last taxol and I'm still not close to 100%. Maybe 60-70% of normal--I think it will be a slow process.

    But----You are FINISHED. That is HUGE!!

    Why am I up at 5:00am...since my last treatment I have been waking up at 4:30. Is it a reason for that, and some nights I even taking a sleeping pill. I even go to bed late.

    Congrats on your completion Jaavon. You are probably up because you are too anxious. Finishing treatment and everything. Just a lot to take in, even though it is good! Hope you get some rest soon!
