My daughter has this quote framed in her room. It was given to her after her beloved grandmother passed away this year, I thought it was fitting for all of us, but especially by all those who are going through an exceptionally difficult time right now (be it chemo, rads, family, med reactions, depression, or just life):
It's entitled : OPPORTUNITY

I shall pass throgh this world but once,
Any good therefore that I can do
or any kindness that I can show to any human being,
let me do it now.
Let me not defer or neglect it,
for I shall not pass this way again.

That "any human being" could be: the hapless idiot that makes ignornant comments; the dr with whom you may not agree, but is performing to the best of his/her knowledge; the family member who avoids the subject of can--r because they cannot say it any more than we can write it; ourselves, as we venture into unknown and terrifying territory and wish we had each other right by our side instead of at our fingertips.

We have the opportunity to make this journey, as horrifying as it is, one that allows us to set an example for others. I am not always such an example, in fact, I fail at it mercilessly most of the time. But, I try and no one can ask more of us.

This site has given me the opportunity to be a support to others, even to make someone laugh (as many of you have done for me). We are taking full advantage of the "opportunity."
