To the Esteemed President and Secretary of the Daft Sod Club

Dear Madam Tasha and Madam Susan,

I decided to write a formal letter, with earnest sincerity, to the Powers-to-Be of the Daft Sod Club. Though I do not expect to be accepted on the basis of pity, I feek compelled to inform you that I have never been a member of a club before. This has been an issue, since childhood, that has left me scarred and burdened with chronic low self-esteem. But, please do not take pity upon me, I have learned to accept my lowly station in life. I would rather be accepted upon merit alone. I hope that I have met your standards in regards to posting; to suppport, cry, laugh, and to vent appropriately. It is my hope that I have not only been your co-hort in the road to good health, but also your friend. Thereby, it is my hope that you can, with confidence, consider me worthy of your honorable club.

I would, without hesitation, contribute monetarily, yet my funds are greatly stained due to the market crashes of 2000 (?) and 2008. However, I will humbly offer my services to help design a tee-shirt befitting the exhalted status of the fine women and men who carry the name "Daft Sod" with pride. Of course, I would not fathom the thought that I would do this single-handedly-perish the thought.

Anziously, and with great humility, I await your decision as to my membership. Regardless of your decision, I will continue to absorb the wisdom of your words and insight, knowing that I will never be able to rise-up to your extraordinary standards.

I knew there was reason...
I loved you guys! YIPPEE! I can't wait to tell someone that I finally got into a club. My mama would be so proud (okay, maybe not my mama). But, I know I'll find someone to congratulate me! I can barely contain myself, whoa, I best not make a total fool of myself. Good thing I am currently in the privacy of my one home when I received your good news!

I think I'll go walk my pup and tell my neighbors. They will certainly ask the reason for the smile upon my face. )

Oh, Julia, of course you are upset. Even if the guy is a first-class jerk, that hurts. And how cruel of him to do that with Jamie visiting. Did he just want to spoil your time with your son? I hope he did not succeed. You deserve to be happy--and you deserve better.

I have seen how hard it can be to know when to get out of a relationship, and how hard it is to get out of an abusive one. The fear of how to survive on your own is there, no matter how bad the relationship.

But--there is no greater challenge, no greater fear to manage than cancer. And you have met the challenge, managed the fear.. And you continue so...with humor and strength. You do not let cancer change who you are. Why let an abusive man diminish you?

Remember all this, Julia. You can live without this man. How much harder can it be than fighting breast cancer? Whatever happens, we are here for you, and we love you. You are not alone in this, either.

Okay Tasha.. this is for you.. I agree with Moopy. The only thing that is stopping you is fear, but really what is the worst thing that can happen??? Do not be a prisoner to fear.. you are a very lovable.. uplifting woman with a lot of streangth.. We have two choices with fear... allowing it to control us... or we can chose to control it. There is fear in the unknown... I understand..but you shouldn't have to live in that condition..or fear doing it on your own.. You my dear have too much to offer!!

At the risk of getting flagged, since I received your "oki-dokie" I feel safe in telling you I am sorry you are having this problem, I know it can't be easy on you and if this had been earlier, I would probably had something more to say about him...but for now be assured we are here for you as most have already said. Oh good I was not sure I was a member or not. That you ever so much. We should design a pin or bracelet something easy to wear all the time. Would that be cool. Then we would recognize other members if we would ever cross paths.

I hate to read that HE is abusing you again. I really thought after you were so upset the last time, that you would have left him. I just hope that you allow yourself to live J! Noone is guaranteed tomorrow, so, would you want to spend it with HIM?

Okay, this will take some organization. We should think seriously about bringing this club together. The boards are great, but wouldn't it be cool to go beyond cyberspace?

Ummm...tee-shirts, pins, hats, reunions. This could be something really big. Wow! We could organize the biggest Relay for Life Team known in the his of the ACS! We could campaign in our respective states, wearing the Daft Sod Team logo (to symbolize unity), while we participate in our respective Relays. This could be big-VERY BIG!

We, as members, would make a commitment to raise money for RFL and as new members join (when they're ready to pose the question, "I'm I Daft Sod, too?" They will be wholeheartedly accepted and be asked if, as a member, would they be willing to join the RFL team, too. Those we recruit could become honorary members, such as FDS (family or friends of Daft Sods),... Well, you get the idea.

We came to the boards because our lives were turned upside down, what better way to set our lives back on track--by actively doing our part to find a cure?! Well, anyway, it's a thought. Good night for now. Tmr will be a busy day at work.
