HUSBAND HAS JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH STAGE 4 LUNG CANCER AWAITING BIOPSY RESULTS

I AM A MOTHER OF 4 MY OLDEST BEING MY STEPSON, 30 TOMORROW, A SON 23 AND TWO DAUGHTERS 21 AND 18. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT AS MUCH ON THIS SUBJECT AS I CAN , ANY GOOD BOOKS TO READ FOR THIS???? ANY ADVICE HOW TO DEAL WITH THE MOOD SWINGS????WHAT MAY BE THE TIME LINE i HAVE TO LOOK AT??? VERY SCARED AND TRYING TO KEEP IT TOGETHER FOR ALL .. i RECENTLY HAD SOME ISSUES OF MY OWN AND WE WERE WORKING THROUGH THEM ADN THIS POPS UP... ANY IDEAS????

    My Dad was diagnosed with Stage IV non small cell lung cancer in May. The mass is in the right lung and is 9mm.
    There is so much information out there from the American Cancer Society. If you call them they can help with transportation, meals, financial help, etc. There are also some great websites out there with great information:

    My husband was diagnosed with lung cancer Sept. 28 non small cell Stage 3 T4. We are also waiting on more biopsy results... I personally think they should get the biopsy results all in before they tell us ANYTHING... It is such a roller coaster...My husband was depressed at first ( not his nature ), but he is doing better now...He is having chest pain...His tumor is large and close if not into the aorta...I also was diagnosed with Lymphoma ( stomach ) Sept. 22. We were doing fine, so we thought...It is the most stressful words that anyone can hear..Just be open & understanding...It's so difficult for you to.. My husband will supposedly be having chemo, radiation, and a lung removed, but I have this peaceful feeling NOW that everything will somehow be alright for both of us....The tide will come back in one way or another ///always does...It's God's way

    I was just diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer in January. I am a 45 year old mother of 3. I agree with getting all the biopsy results in before they say anything. It really puts you on an emotional roller coaster. The stress became unbearable for my husband~he is now on med. to help him deal with it! I also was dianosed and treated with stage 3 sarcoma (left leg) in 2007. I came to peace with God's will in my life. I know whatever happens I know I will be okay. I stay positive (despite the statistics) and "dance in the rain". I am currently going through chemo for my lung cancer. I just finished my 8th treatment and had 3 different "chemo cocktails". Surgery is not an option. I focus on living each day the best I can. It has been working well for me so far!
    Good luck to you and your husband. It is good to hear of people who find strength and peace in their faith! I will pray for both of you!

    stage IV with mets to the brain
    My 48 year old boyfriend was diagnosed with this horrible disease in August. He stopped smoking in July, but when the cough continued and he lost weight, he knew something was wrong. There is was....a tumor, with lypmp nodes involved and 5 lessions to the brain. He had Gama Knife treatment on the brain, which is 85% successful. We wont know the results for a couple of months regarding his brain. He is going for Chemo every Wednesday. They are going after it very aggressivly because of his young age and no prior health issues.We are still numb from this news. Good Luck to you and everyone else battling this "thief of life".

    I am a mother of three: 16, 15, and 12. I have Stage 4 lung carcinoma of the lungs. I have been going through chemo since April. My oncologist said I may be on Chemo for atleat a year. I have non-small cell lung cancer. Be patient with him...some of the mood swings could be due to him trying to deal with the diagnosis. Anger, denial, sadness, congfusion. All have affected my mood. I am on anti-depressant to help. It is very scarey for him and for you. You are human and need to find your coping mechanism. Being strong doesn't exclude crying, screaming and yelling, or venting to an understanding friend. Keep open the lines of communication! Ask for help when you need it. Take help when it is offered.
    The side effects for each treatment drug are different. I am on my third type of chemo. I have good days and bad days. How each patient responds to their chemo is different.
    Write down your questions for the doctors...give a copy to the doctor and have one for yourself at the appointment. I gave the nurse the doctor's copy of the questions so he has time to look them over and just answer them for you without you reading outloud. Just make sure he answers all to your satisfaction.
    How is he doing now?

    Brother Stage 4 NSCLC
    Hello,
    My brother was diagoised two weeks ago with stage 4 andeocarcinoma of the lung. He just turned 40 to say the least this was a shock to all of us. His has spread to the bone. He had his chemo port put in yesterday and will start treatment Dec. 1st. There is just so much information out there and we want to make sure he is getting the best most agressive treatments available. We have a consultation with the Ierland Cancer Center on Monday for a second opinion. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

    My husband was diagnosed Sept. 28 with Stage III-b T4 nsclc...He is just starting chemo and radiation this Mon... I am not happy that he treatment has taken so long as it is aggressive, non operable....Online you can ask for a lot of info. to be mailed to you from the ACS American Cancer Society.... The radiation dept. should give you a lot of info, in person and in reading material ..... Shock, disbelief, is certainly the way we feel after both being diagnosed with cancer in the SAME week !!! Mine is not as life threatening...Stomach Malt Lymphoma... Daughter is in another hospital with Pancreatitis & Gastritis now already for 6 days....on iv & liquids only.
    Put one foot in front of the other, pray, and know that the Tide will come back in...ALWAYS does... Does your brother have wife & children ??? Stage 4 is not good, but read the encouraging survivor stories.... We have learned MORE about cancer than we EVER wanted to know. My ( 2 ) brothers had prostate cancer...One passed & one is ok...kind of. To much cancer these days....chemicals beyond our control is what I think...It's everywhere you look.
    It's an evil devastating, disease that is difficult to even accept. Tell your brother to read a lot and take an active part in this,and it will help him to feel more in control..He CAN beat it...There are many survivor stories..

    Being a mother of three just amazes me that you have held on. I give you so much credit. I just found out my mom has stage 4 lung cancer and to me this is the worst thing in the world. Since it's fairly new coping with it has been incredibly hard. My heart and support goes out to you and your family.
