Ask Doctor
You might want to ask the doctor about that. I have asthma, and when having trouble and not getting enough oxygen, my lips will turn dark, almost purple, they can put the little thing on your finger and instantly tell if your tissues are getting enough oxygen. Everyone is different, I know some people get rashes, blotches and so on, also the sun can turn you some weird colors and cause permanent blotches, sunscreen and lip balm with sunscreen was a must for me. Hope your mom does well on her chemo.

My lips turned darker and
My lips turned darker and the palms of my hands and soles of my feet have turned completely black. Most people think that I either work in an auto shop or work with some kind of printing press. When I was going thru neo adjuvant chemo, I was completely insecure about my hands and feet, but they turned back to the right color after about 2 months of no treatment while I was having surgeries. Now that I am back on adjuvant chemo, they have turned right back to black again. I don't worry about it anymore, just learned to live with it.0 -
I am new to this support
I am new to this support group and entered it because I have been having a hard time dealing with my colon cancer and the side effects. To get to your question,Although I have not had my lips turn darker, but my armpits have. I have had 5 chemo treatments and I have noticed that even though I dont have any hair under my arms and dont have to shave, which is a good thing. I have a dark discoloration. Just figured it was the chemo, just like so many different side effects that happen. thanks, Donna0
