Fairly new port
I know the first time my nurse tried to access the port she asked if it'd turned. I guess those two comments mean they do at times move. Mine hadn't by the way and it was all good. Hopefully it'll stay where it needs to be for the rest of my treatments. How are you doing otherwise?0 -
ports yes
Libby, I had a port, it never worked, but when they first tried drawing blood from it, they thought it might have flipped, be glad it didn't because the doc tried manually turning it over, and let me tell you it HURT! Can you imagine them grabbing that thing and trying to turn it? under your skin??? Well they finally did tests on it and figured out it was a dud. There we go again with the words "I've never seen that happen before.." So I had a picc put in my arm and the rest of my infusions and blood work went through that.
Good luck with the rest of your treatments!

Libby, I had one
Ports are implanted to make things easier for you, not harder. I know that mine moved, from time to time, but the oncology nurses were able to adjust accordingly to make it work properly. As far as flipping, if it did, they never told me. The nurse may have mispoken and meant that it had moved significantly, so I don't this is anything for you to worry about; however, since the surgeon implanted the port, I think I would ask him/her that question--just to ease your mind. I called my surgeon often if I had questions about anything pertaining to past or upcoming surgeries. That's why they are part of the team-to ask questions of them.
