DONE with cancer treatments!
I will be doing a few more things like zometa and maybe a vaccine clinical trial, but nothing that will be as continuous or intense as chemo or radiation. I can hardly believe it. I feel like I have a whole new life. I know the end of treatment can be difficult and confusing, but for right now, I feel just great. You guys probably know by now that I am a planner, so I have all sorts of plans swirling around in my head: get a bike, buy the new iphone, have a fancy dinner, do more volunteering, exercise more, get my gorilla legs waxed. My head is spinning.
So, I want to thank everyone here for being with me on this journey. I mean it when I say that I absolutely could not have made it without you. This group is an incredible resource and support. I would be lost without it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Love to ALL,
Mimi

Mimi,
That is absolutely just plain old "wonderful"!!!! Am so happy for you. You made it girl!and I admire you so much.
My journey has just started. My surgery is this Tuesday, 6/23. Dr. called yesterday and was so happy my PET Scan showed normal.
I wish you all the luck in the world and keep us posted. But, most of all stay happy.

CONGRATULATIONS!
I am so happy for you! I am only out of treatment 2 weeks, and the feeling is awesome! Like you said - a hug, best wishes, and you're out of there. Its just a good feeling to be done. They had told me not to have my nails done during treatment, and the next day after treatment ended, I went back to my nail girl and had them done. It felt so good not to see my little stumpy fingers any more.
GOOD LUCK! and CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!0 -

Good Luck to you Maryann on your surgery. I will keep you in my prayers. My surgery was 8 months ago this week and I remember how nervous I was. It is the beginning of a long journey, and I know you will be strong and get through it with frying crullers! Keep us posted!

I am so happy for you. It sounds like you have a lot on your "to-do" list and I am jealous. (not about the gorilla legs part though)
Your note almost sounded like we wouldn't be hearing from you any longer ... but I hope that isn't true. Please stay in touch ... we need you here!
big hugs.

I am so glad for you and your happy spirits. May your life continue to unfold in new and wonderful ways. With much love, Lynn
I know it wasn't ever easy, but you not only came through with flying colors - you have been a resource and an inspiration the entire time. See if you can't charm Simon into taking you somewhere extremely nice tonight... maybe if you let him pick out the wine?
Congratulations!

Congrats Mimi
Now get on with your life. Seems like only yesterday that you came in here like a scared, confused little girl. Now look at how many lives you have touched and helped.
I have never heard of a vaccine for breast cancer. What is it all about? Which cancers are they tring it on?
Take care and hugs

So Happy For You!
Mimi~
Much as you don't like it~we are all cheering for you!!! OMG; I remember when you first came to these boards, and now you are living your Life After Cancer! I told you there would be one! LOL I am almost giddy with happiness for you; I see boutique hotels and luscious dinners in your near future!
I am not supposing you will be a part of this family "to infinity and beyond", but I do hope you will check in with us now and again..Keep us apprised of your travels, and new favorite hotels! No, Mimi, I am sooo not pushing you out the door, but I'm really glad the door is open and you can walk out ( and in!) at will! YAY

Hi Jadie, the vaccine trial is a phase II clinical trial that gives a peptide injection to those who have HER2/neu negatives tumors, but who still express some HER2/neu gene. It's an untested treatment and in early trials, so I'm not sure I will be part of it. There is some question as to certain serious side effects it might have. I will be discussing it with my onc. and also probably getting a second opinion before I do it. If you would like, I can send you a link to it.
