Hormone therapy

I was told 4 weeks a go I had stage 4 cancer. It has gone from my breast to my bones. As the cancer is estrogen positive, I am taking hormone therapy.It will be 4 weeks on Thursday. Does anyone know how long the pills take to start doing something? My blood counts keep going down and I have to get units of blood. I see my doctor tomorrow so wish me luck!!!
He said no use doing the full masectomy until we get the bone cancer cells under control.

    Hi Susrq, sorry but I don't know how long it should take. I thought they used zometa for mets to the bone. It's suppose to make the bone hostile to cancer. Maybe it's still experimental. I wish you the best and hope your app't goes well tomorrow.

    I'm on tamoxifen
    because I had strong er pr positive,have been taking it for about a year now but have no clue if it's working or not. I hope it is!!
    I have heard some ladies talking on here about a test that they can give for you (a metabolic test for tamoxifen)-I don't know much about it though.

    I am so sorry Susan about your cancer. What hormone therapy are you taking? Is it tamoxifen? I have no idea of how the hormone therapy works, as, I have delayed taking any myself. Let us know what your doctor tells you please! Thanks!
