What cute children!!!
I told my daughter (developmentally disabled) that she was part of my 'team' and that I had 'special' medicine that was just for me...and that I would lose my hair...so she could help by being a big girl and help me when I ask...

Love the "team" idea. We do that on a regular basis just gettign ready and getting out the door everyday! I even let them pick a name for it. Was she upset when you lost your hair. My older 2 were very upset and would not come near me for a few days but are okay now and it is growing back a little.0 -

because I had told her ahead of time, she was ok with it...I even let her pet my head!
I found that if I am comfortable with it, most people keyed off of my reaction...and my daughter did that, too....That is probably why I could 'go naked' so easily in public...I had accepted it, so everyone else could, too.

My grandkids are 5,3, & 1 I guess when I start chemo, I better just tell them how it is. My son would not be happy with me if they won't take there medicine anymore. Thanks for the laugh and the tip.0 -
Told my.......
We told my grandkids, ages 6 & 4, whom I see regularly, that the special medicine that I was taking made my hair fall out. They truly seemed to take it in stride and made me "get well" cards.
When my hair started to grow back, they just said that I must not be taking my medicine any more.
I honestly was amazed that they were so accepting of it all.
Kids are incredible!

Mine are older, so I just told them that I had BC..I didn't have to have chemo, but I did tell them that I would be really tired from rads....
Kids do say the darnest things....
My kids are 24 21 and 8. My 8 yr old wants us to get Hannah Montana wigs lol.
