psa is doubling every month

my psa started to rise again last fall. For the last 4 months it has doubled every month and is now at 14.3. I had an rp in oct. of 2006 folowed by hormonal and rad treatments. All was good until the fall of 2007 when it started to rise again. was put on casodex which kept it down for another year. In dec of 2008 it started to go up again and was put on high dose casodex with no efect. I am now on ketoconazole and hydrocortisone but it dose not seem to be working either. my pa went from 8.3 to 14.3 in 4 weeks. Has anyone had the some results with the keto not working?.

    Hi,

    When casodex stopped working for my husband back in Nov. 08, his ongologist presribed ketoconazole too. It did not work at all and even affected his liver. He had to wait a few weeks for his liver to recover before he could take anything else and in the meantime his PSA went up to 2,000! He went to see his urologist around this time and he put him on Nilandron and he gets a lupron shot every six months. The urologist said in his experience, ketoconazole rarely works. My husband also receives chemo now. His PSA is 405 on his last test but he is feeling good and eats well although he is very, very tired. This would not be a problem he he wasn't still trying to do farmwork and cut firewood! My husband's urologist told my husband he has other options available when one thing stops working.
