New doctor report

I saw a female gyn/onc from Texas Oncology today and did I ever like her because we talked a lot about nutrition and vitamins....odd for a doctor in my experience. Because I was on gut antibiotics for over a month for the diverticulitis she gave me a web site that I could order the good bacteria replacements from and thinks I have developed a lactose/gluten intolerance as a result. So off milk and wheat products for awhile. Will see if that clears up the gas, bloating, and stomach cramps I have had a month. I didn't know if it was cancer, gas, or diverticulitis making me so uncomfortable.

Now get this...my blood test last week said the CA125 was less than 1. That was a joke because I have been in the double digits for 10 months. She ordered another test and I'll know Friday what it says.
Anyway, I am certain that was an error.

Still no sign on the CT scan or physical of tumors which is really good news.

Thanks for the prayers, Saundra

    Hi Saundra,

It sounds like you're on the right track. I'm so glad you CT scan is still negative. I can relate to the stomach discomfort. I've had a lot of it, not knowing what was causing it, as well as a pain that radiates to my shoulder. I hope you have answers soon.

    God bless,
    Karen

Saundra, congrats on the scan...that is wonderful news. And wouldn't it be more wonderful if the Ca125 really was and stayed at 1? I sure wish you the best...Cindy

    Hi Saundra,
When I finished my treatment of carbo/taxol my CA was also less than 1 and my oncologist said he never saw it go that low. Unfortunately for me, it only lasted 3-4 months (I'm platinum resistant), and then began climbing, and off to Topotecan land we went.

What great news of no tumors on the CT scan, I'm sure that was a wonderful relief to you.

I'm interested in what she had to say about vitamins, or general nutritional advice she had for you. Perhaps we can all profit from that knowledge. I agree, that's not usually discussed by my doctors either.

Good luck and good health to you.

    Nutrition
She was focused on the replenishment of good bacteria and healing of the bowel from my diverticulitis.
Said I might be low on Vit. D because of all the loose bowels I have had 5 weeks so tested for that.
Stressed no coffee/tea. I cut back... High fiber....Saundra
