    Water pill
I have been taking it before my bc DX and am still taking it. The ONLY side effect is increased urination. No other. It does get your pressure down. Don't worry.

    Yes
I did take it Babe, but, they took me off of just that. So, they put me on Lisinopril/HCTZ then, which is a combo of the the water pill hydrochlorathiazide and for my congestive heart failure and high blood pressure. The only side effect I had with it was the more frequent urination.

    Hello babebussie. Yes, I
Hello babebussie. Yes, I take that pill and it does lower your blood pressure. You do have to go to the bathroom a little bit more, but, not that noticeable. And, it made me kind of tired at first, but, I am better on it now, not so tired. Luck to you!

    I take HCTZ also
I have been taking HCTZ (hydrochlorothiazide) for a long time. I actually have low blood pressure but retain fluid. It works well. The one side effect the doctor will moniter is your potassium level, in some people it can cause low potassium.

Don't take it late in the evening because you will have to get up during the night to empty your bladder.

    Best wishes

Been taking this stuff for about 15 years with no discernible side effects.
I can gain up to 5 pounds of water in a couple of days if I run out.
Taken regularly in the morning, you will
hardly notice that you just use the bathroom on a more normal basis. Good luck.

    Me too
    Hi Babe,

I've also taken HCTZ for many years (25mg/day, in the morning).
I haven't had any side effects other than increased urination, but that's the whole point: to get rid of the excess fluids that increase your blood volume and thereby raise your blood pressure.
It's the easiest way to lower your blood pressure without any real side effects.

    Good luck.

    Luv ya,
    Debi

    Hey, Babe... Ditto
I've been on hydrochlorothiazide since I was 38. I'm now 67. Although I'm allergic to a lot meds, this one has agreed with me forever. It works. It's an oldie but a goodie. Now that I'm older, my doctor has added a beta blocker along with the HCTZ. The combination has been working for me for the past seven years. No side effects except, if I remember correctly, in the first month or so of taking it, I had to get up in the middle of the night to use the "john." No biggie. Take care of yourself, kiddo. Hugs, Marilynn

Hey Babe, how r u doing!
Yea, I have been on them and they will lower your blood pressure. You go to the bathroom, maybe, a little bit more. I just didn't drink a lot, so, it wasn't that much more. Don't be worried about them. You will be fine! Good luck!
