Tongue in cheek
Now the tongue in cheek part. I know many of you have not been able to use these drugs after they have been prescribed. I am sure that some of you have a bottle or two in a cabinet because you are not sure how to get rid of it safely. Drain and toilet are out. Can't just throw it in the trash. So you can combine getting rid of your usuable with a money making venture. Go to your nearest sporting event (one that has the biggest most muscular atheletes) and sell those drugs. You will not only find a safe (well for everyone but the idiots who buy them) way to dispose of them, you can make a little green as well. This is be especially good for those not working right now. I don't think it would be considered reportable income because you are selling a product not working. But check with your accountants to be sure.
Okay all kidding aside, why do some of these atheletes do this? Well, we know why? There is big money in sports. So we should share that pie. Oh my, I slipped back into the kidding mode. It just amazes me how people find ways to corrupt the use of meds. But why am I surprised? I was in the late teens and twenties during the flower children era and spent time in the Haight Ashbury. The summer of love, I was there, I think. Avalon Ballroom, Fillmore West, been there done that. Saw Janice, Jefferson Airplane all the groups of the sixties. But I wasn't into the drug part, didn't like the loss of self. I did however drink. Don't do that now for the same reason. I like to be in control and for me alcohol takes that away. But the sixties was all about the fun, the freedom. These athletes are just in it so they can get rich and be famous. So get on the cash cow, ladies and sell those pills that don't work for you. Let some fool with more muscle than brain make you rich.

So true
Stef,
Don't get me started, I live in Southern California and my ten year old is a big baseball fan. I can't tell you how disappointed he was when one of the Dodgers tested positive. Apparently this player needed female hormones( a masking agent) for a personal problem. Anyway love your humor. Surf0 -

I've been switched from Arimidex, to Femara, now I'm on Aromasin, so I do have a supply
lying around. Might finance a summer vacation!0 -
OMG!!!
I don't (but do) believe it! Well I know what to do now when I can't take it anymore, hopefully my pharmacy will continue to refill me for a few fast bucks!
Yes, as surfermom said, so many were disappointed when the Dodgers were on such a great winning streak to be hit when Manny Ramirez was penalized (50 games) for some type of drug. It is a very strange world we live in, and Janice rocked. We have a tape of one of her first singing gigs and the people in the audience were dumfounded. Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedes Benz....and there was that White Rabitt...
Well at least now I can blame my big arms on my drugs. Think that'll fly?
thanks for the info Stef!

Blows my mind...
I wish I did NOT HAVE to take this frickin' medication. But, hey, my chance at life depends on it. The daily side effects suck. And stupid goofs take it optionally for... WHY?
Don't get me started... Steroids, too. Had to use those monstrous drugs during chemo.
Kind regards, Susan

Meds and body builders
Yep, my surgeon told me I could not blame tamoxifen for getting overweight. He said the body builders use it to "cut fat" from their body so their muscles are more well-defined. I checked it out on the net and sure 'nuf he was right. I didn't know that the anti-estrogens do the same thing. There goes that excuse. Guess I need to get the duct tape out again and quit eating all those cookies and cakes (only two pieces today. . .so far).

The short little woman is me. The lovely and beautiful young lady is my daughter. This was at her vocal recital at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. I am chubbier, well fatter, now than then. There are some other pictures of my family on my expressions.0 -

Well, what can I say? Your posts suggest a woman with a very young spirit!
I bet you're really proud of your daughter! I'll be sure to check our your "expressions" page...

Don't get too excited. If you're experiencing menopause - whether naturally or chemically-induced...
Menopause itself works the opposite way; i.e., body wants/tries to store fat. Tamoxifen doesn't cancel this out. So, onc was right re: weight gain - can't blame the Tamoxifen. But, you CAN blame menopause. Great book: "The Wisdom of Menopause - Creating Physical and Emotional Health and Healing During the Change" by Christiane Northrup, M.D.

Perhaps it's the severe lack of estrogen that Tamoxifen puts us in that is the same as menopause (lack of estrogen) that then encourages the weight gain. Any way you look at I slammed on 15 lbs right away after starting Tamoxifen and I've never had a weight problem before. I'll never be convinced it was a coincidence.
From what I've read body builders (usually men) use Tamoxifen after their steroid cycle to prevent the increase in estrogen that would normally happen after the steroids. I think what they are after is to increase the testosterone. But I have heard of women who actually lost weight on Tamoxifen. Guess we're all different.0 -

I took off 40 lbs during treatments because chemo fried my tastebuds and nothing tasted good(I don't reccomend that for everyone). And over a year put all of that weight but 10 lbs back on!!
As Tasha says,"Bugger it!"!
I've never heard of women who had lost weight on it,have heard of women gaining 10,15 lbs on it though over the course of 5 years.0 -

40 lbs is a lot of weight to lose. Mine remained stable throughout and I ate junk food, slept and never exercised. It was probably within 6-8 mos on Tam that I put the weight on. Of course I was also eating healthier and exercising more. Geeesh!!! I swear, I have NO metabolism whatsoever LOL0
