A Difficult Question
I just read a disturbing post on another forum. The poster says,"All of us at stage 3 or 4 are going to die eventually from this disease." I am not a big statistics fan, but I thought there were a few lucky ones who were acually cured, not just surviving from one chemo to the next.
I don't mean to be negative, but I really could use some hope on a "down after chemo day."
Does anyone have any insight? Love, Froggy

Question
Froggy,
We all are going to die eventually. YES, there have been cases of never having a recurrence. NEVER give up hope! You absolutely could never have a recurrence. Prayer, hope, and love will keep us alive until there is a cure.

Statistics
Hi Froggy, like Joan had said we are all going to die. The statistics out there aren't that great. I know of a lot of stage 3 and 4 battling this disease for years.I don't go by statistics, I go by my good positive attitude and my faith in God.I know of stage 4 women who are going on 7-10 years and longer. Just never give up hope. Just keep on fighting!!!

All of Us
Dearest Froggy,
All of us are living and living in-spite of cancer whatever stage. I know people who have stage 4 and never had a recurrence and others like myself that never have a remission. Either scenarios could be you. I always said I was going to help change the statistics and so many women here have. Be it the length of survivorship with or without cancer. I know it is really a hard time during the "Down After Chemo Day" and once it passes you will not only see the light but feel it. :-) I have similar feelings at times when I in the sick and tired of being sick and tired. I know I am not the person you need to hear from as I am not one of the ones cured but am one of the lucky ones living chemo to chemo.
Sending lots of hugs n prayers your way, don't ever give up hope you could be one of them to be cured. Hugs Bonnie

Hi, just because we have the 6 letter word cancer does not mean that it will lead to the 5 letter word death. My 6th grade Nun always said, 'God puts us here on a certain day and calls us back to Him on a certain day', moral of the story..Live each day as it were your last. A priest I love to listen to speaks of the burden of cancer and other illness as His way of testing OUR FAITH. Go some place to be alone and keep watch, He will be there for you. Just listen and feel His Presence.
Blessings and God be with you, It is not the end of the world. It is all in His plan..
And remember fear is only a 4 letter word, but so is LOVE... AND IT IS A STRONGER.
Blessings,
and always remember...Let the sun shine in

Each day is a gift!
I think all the posts here have been great and I agree with all of them. I was dx 3 years ago with ovca 3C. I had a glorious 8 month remission and then recurred. I am back in treatment and actually doing well, but have had to process many things in the last few months. I know that I will die sooner or later from something and I can't live forever. I think that my struggle has been that I would really like to choose the best time (after my kids are raised etc) and I just really don't want to die from cancer! The reality is that I don't get to choose all of that. I have been slowly (why is it so hard?) letting go of that right and not only have more peace but a joy and love for every day that I get to live! The gratitude for the opportunity to cook a good meal for my family, sit on the deck and enjoy a cup of coffee, and take a walk in the woods with my husband is filling my life. Each day is a wonderful gift!
That being said, you are right that the statistics are only that and I know some women, even stage 4 that never recurred and stage 4 that have lived for 20 years. Obsessing over the numbers will only drive you crazy.
I hope you are feeling better, can be filled with peace and find something good to focus on that will encourage you today. I had my second dose of gemzar on Thursday and am just coming out of the woods too. Today is going to be much better, I know!!
Warm hugs,

One Day
Froggy,
I agree with these wonderful ladies! And true we are all going to die one day from something could be cancer, car wreck, old age, whatever..... But the only One who knows that day is God. So my trust is in Him as He is the author of life and death. I do not go by statistics as that is man's figuring.
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone; my hope comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken" Ps. 62:5-6
Teal hugs,
