Just had my second year Lid, WBS, Thyrogen shots, Blood work
After my first week of testing a year ago....I had a negative body scan but in my blood work there was still detectable thyroglobulin. Basically, the endo said that I had cancer somewhere in my body that could not be seen. So, anyways, I was glad that there wasn't anything visible...but I still felt so vulnerable. Since then he had been closely watching my Synthroid level to keep me suppressed. I JUST finished my second annual week of testing. Yesterday, once again, I found out my body scan is negative and I was so relieved. Now, I am waiting to find out the results of my blood work and ultrasound that I had done. You know, at least following the first year there were many more days that I didn't dwell on my cancer like had been. It is always in the back of my mind and during the time that testing comes up it is in the front of my mind....now I am hoping it can go in the back once again..we'll see.0 -

The thyroglobulin could just be thyroid tissue left after surgery.
My surgeon left quit a bit of thyroid tissue behind.0 -

My scan was clean, should here today about my thyroglobulin results.
I am going for my body scan. It's been 15 months since my thyroid was removed. I am supposed to have two shots of thyrogen??? an iodine capsule and two body scans. They are saying that I will feel the same way I feel now (which is not always that great). Can anyone tell me if I will feel horrible during this procedure? Thank you.0 -

Hey Emma,
By the time you see this you may have already had your WBS... just wanted you to know I had mine this week (been 14 mos since thyroidectomy for me) and had no major issues. Just kind of a pain going to the hospital for two shots and a pill and lying on a cold slab with a bad back but hey, it is definitely better than chemo or other treatment. Should know results this week.
Thyrogen is DEFINITELY the way to go with this instead of the hypothyroid junk! I read another post where a writer said their insurance didn't pick it up, I would hope at sometime most all insurances would!
God bless you all and stay well,

Thank you for
Hi Susan,
Thank you for thinking of me.
I start my WBS Sept. 28th. Thanks for your support and thank you for sharing your experience. It has been exactly 15 months since my first surgery (second was April 09 for scar repair). I am happy that there were no major issues with your WBS.
My drive is quite long to the Radiology Facility, but at this point I'm thankful that I am healthy. You are so right about Chemo and other treatments.
Here's to great results!0
