Feeling Swell?
Hi JohnnyBGoode, (I just heard the Johnny Winter version of this song today)
It's been very long since I was on those meds but I do not remember the swelling. Did it look like an allergic reaction or anything or was it very mild? I had neuropathy, numbness in hands a feet after a while but never swelling. I do get some swelling in my legs and whole body but that's a water thing from the Erbitux. Do make sure you tell your doctor tomorrow all the side effects you get. they may seem like nothing but it's better to let them make the call.
Be Well,
-phil

Not on the list
My onc. gave me a booklet with a list of possible side effects and facial swelling isn't listed. I 'THINK" we're on the same meds. I'm just one week treatment ahead of you. I have #4 this Wednesday a.m. Fluorouracil Levoleucovorin Oxaliplatin / fanny pack for 46 hours???
Hope this next treatment is much easier on you! My 2nd was tough (VERY tired) but the next one had no side effects. Wishing YOU the same!

phil and diane, it wasnt on my list either my face was puffy looking and the home health care nurse told me it was a common side effect when she came to unhook me.yes we are on the same meds but my fanny pack is for 44 hours. i dont know about you diane but#2 was hard on me.my surgen put me in the hospital after doing radiation and chemo[xeloda] for 5 weeks. i was down to 94lbs and could not bounce back after being off for 2 weeks.my appt with surgen was 3 weeks after i finished.i was in the hospital for 5 days getting iv fluids and got one unit of blood before coming home.i am scared this oxy is going to do me the same way because of the way it makes me feel.like they say nobody knows your own body like you do. good luck with yours if im not here for a few days its because im in the bed.i have only had 3 feel good days since my last treatment. talk to ya soon.....johnnybegood0 -

are you on the steroids at the beginning...The dexamethasone can cause sweeling of the face...also the dolasetron.
I get my infusion of oxy on Thurs....on Friday I start my xeloda which is the oral version of 5FU by Friday night I have a puffy red face that usually 3 or 4 days

When I was on the 5FU pump, I was given dexamethasone by push, then took it orally for 3 days to boost the anti-nausea drugs. I had a puffy face and my hands swelled as well. They kept checking my ankles, but they never got bad. It did settle down after a couple of weeks.
