been there done that
Hi,
My experience was that the prep was the same, almost easier because you don't end up with a raw butt.
I was a little nervous about it because I didn't know quite what to expect, but it really wasn't much different than without the ostomy.
Take care,

Hi Buzzard
When I had a scope done through my ostomy I was out just like for the other way. The ostomy nurse flushed it out before the procedure, she was very good and gentle about it. Prep was about the same, no food and so on. I don't dnow if they will put you out or not, you'll have to ask about that, I still had the tumor when they did it that way on me, so that's the difference. Hope goes ok for you too.

weird but better
Hi. I've had this experience twice now. I have a permanent colostomy and I do irrigation daily. But I still had to do prep, coz they want you clean as a whistle. The scope procedure seemed a bit "weird" to me but in fact is much easier because -- well --- how can I say this. It's not your butt. No sphincter mucsles. No nerve endings at ostomy. So it was strange but very easy....
Good luck!

The way I feel........steve g said:Thanks for the question
Buzzrd; I wondered the same thing, I haven't been scheduled as yet but have thought about it.
Hope you are recovering from your Folfox treatment and getting back to normal. Steve
steve g, Thanks for the thought.....I went fishing 4 times last week and got a little tan on my face and hands so I don't look ghostly (as my 4 year old calls it)and I feel greatttttttttt. I still have tingling in my fingertips and toes and the bottom of my feet but nothing I can't handle. Life is great and I am making the very best of it as I did before treatment was over. I am going to have my colonoscopy scheduled next month and they got my markers at the Oncs office last week and I talk with my Onc next Thursday to see where we go from here. Life is good..No real side effects except for the neuropathy. I hope everything is great for you also......Thanks again and God bless ya.......0
