    Lili....YOU would ask!
Well, how old do you have to be to be decadent? I gave up "giving things up". I smoke like a chimney, drink, get very little excercise, Love a good hank of overcooked beef with mustard and yorkshire puddings. Sometimes do the odd bit of tinkering on 'Bumble J. Buckley 111' (my little jeep) Blimey I think I'd better go to my corner when they start handing out the halos! LOL

    In your corner
Move over Tash I'll join you in your corner. I also gave up "giving up things'. I don't smoke. Only an occacional mixed drink. (more if I could afford it LOL) My worst enemy is my weight. I have no energy. I have no motivation. I am stuck in a rut and digging myself in deeper all the time. I am feeling myself getting more depressed because I don't have any energy. I would love to feel good and get out and walk. I know that I would feel better to lose weight and exercise. Would someone please give me a big swift kick in the arse to get me motivated!

    One step at a time.....
Consider yourself kicked! :-) I say, if we were runners and had been in an accident and in a full body cast for a year, we would NOT be in the NY marathon the day after the cast came off. But we would need to do some baby steps...stretching, walking, even for a few minutes at a time until we were where we wanted to be! Even if that meant never being in a marathon again.

So...if you are not motivated to walk to town, walk to your mailbox! Park a little further from your comfort zone when you go to the grocery store. Find a friend/neighbor/even a DOG you abolutely can't let down and walk 2 or 3 times a week! We can always make an excuse for ourselves, but if someone else is coming over to walk at 7AM...it isn't likely we will call them a 6:30 AM ( after they too begrudgingly got up at 6 and got dressed!) and cancel, is it???

Endorphins are an amzing thing...and after fighting hard to beat this Beast, you sooo deserve to feel better about YOU! Put the GRRRRRR in Girl-Power and get out there!!!!

    hugs,
    Claudia

Love your way with words, Taasha.
Okay, here's my confession. When I finished A/C treatments, I started to feel human again. Sooooooooooo, on an unusually warm day out came the guitar and the wine. Oh, and the cigs. I headed for the patio where I then felt I'd died and gone to heaven. Even serenaded the shelties and lone dove sitting on the fence pretending to listen. Before long, I had 3 more doves on the fence.

I still drink the bottled water and try to do some yoga that my niece teaches. Try to eat healthy but a hamburger & fries sneaks in once in awhile But the best part was going to a friends house for an afternoon glass of wine. We ended up drinking dirty gin martinis and I thought I would collapse from elation. I think this is called "getting our lives back". And it feels wonderful!

So there you have my little dark secrets. HugZZZZZZ, Teresa

All of that stuff must make
All of that stuff must make a difference--if you hadn't been living healthy, maybe your cancer would have been much worse, maybe your recovery would have been awful.

My mom has never taken any responsibility for her health care--if a doctor doesn't tell her personally to do something, she won't do it. And even if one did tell her to stop smoking or exercise, since it wasn't a pill, she didn't believe.

Healthy living makes a difference--across a population--but not in an individual person. Like rhythm birth control, which works for the population, but not for the person, if you know what I mean.

    Moderation--that must be the key!

    :-)

    Tilted Halo
For almost all of my life I did the right things...never drank, never smoked, watched my salt and on and on. I got not only breast cancer but ovarian and a spinal cord tumor to boot. So......I am on a mission to have more fun in my life and God willing, I'm working on it. I do things in moderation but I refuse to give up my chocolate, my burgers or my chips. And I now have an occasional beer! I have not gained any weight by my "excesses", but I am a much happier girl. I walk a lot, always have always will. So I am not a big exercise person...but I did finally learn how to swim last year, so I won't drown in a pool if I ever take a vacation to an exotic place. I figure I want to enjoy all this life has to offer while I still have some life in me. Cindy

    I think that's great
I don't think we should make ourselves miserable by ahearing to strict, no-fun diets, mechanically trudging on the treadmill everyday and never indulging in a nice glass of wine or a dessert. No way. However, I do really believe in a healthy lifestyle as much as possible. The truth is, I enjoy eating healthy. I like the way the food tastes, I like trying out new recipes, and I like the feeling that I am fueling my body with good things. And exercise makes you feel better, that's a fact. I want my body and mind to be functioning at full throttle so I can do the things I want to do and enjoy a long life. This cancer has really scared the crap out of me and taught me to value my body and treat it well. That's what makes me happy. Oh, and I eat dark chocolate every night and always have a glass of pinot noir when I go out.

Oh all you guys are a HOOT!
Oh all you guys are a HOOT! I love to read your remarks. I thought I would be the only
one after bc that still smokes.............I feel it's the only thing I have left that makes me happy. That an a few trips to the casino a month (love to play bingo). I just lost my mom on Jan 27 this year and almost lost my dad last Wed. I spent 2 years at their home till I had a nervous break down, lost my job of 15 years spent 2 week at the Primary Childrens Hospital with my 10 years old twin grandson with a brain tumor and then on to bc. My world has been the "shits". But your advise and comments have given me some laughs. Thank you, Jomama
