I got to look at reports of pet and ct scan and it definantly has progressed. it is all little spots spread out though so they can't do surgery about it or anything. so they are unblinding me on the avastin trial to see if I was on the drug or placebo. it will take a few days to find out. I pray I was on the placebo because the fact that so many new little ones. it will scare me less if I was just on the placebo. so now he wants to put me on doxil, topecton, or gemzar. he suggest we start with the doxil. so it sounds like next week we will do that every 4 weeks. he says I should stay away from the horses and outdoor cats again but I think I will just wear mask and hold my breath. I plan on riding this summer also. I missed last summer with the surgery and chemo and all. I have never asked my doc how long I have because I would be afraid of what he would say. he does say no cure and that the best we can do is partial remissions. but he did tell me he has a patient just like me who has been doing it for 12 years so far. that gives me hope. not to mention all of you guys on here. has anyone ever went into a long remission on the doxil? Hugs and Prayers Laura

    Doxil
Hi Laura, I was also on the Avastin trial and was taken off. I had it when I had carbo/taxol. Then I went on Doxil because my ca-125 was at 40 and my Gyn/Onc siad that there is still cancer and wanted to get my numbers down within normal range. The Doxil did nothing for me on my 5th treatment it started to go up , it is now at 50.6. I will be on Gemzar next.
Please be careful for raging rashes and a severe sunburn effect while on Doxil. I suffered really bad. I never did get the hand and foot syndrome, thank goodness for that. I do know that there had been people who had Doxil and did have long remissions.I hope it works for you and puts you in a really long remission.
Good Luck and May God Bless You,
    Hugs, Prayers and Love,
    Terry

hopeing to hear something good about doxil. it doesn't sound possible to ride a nice warm horse while takeing it with the rash factor. oh well still rethinking it. I'm not getting chemo untill sometime next week after they find out if I was on the avastin or placebo. God Bless Laura

Anyone hear of avastin working? Just wondering for future references. Laura, I will pray that the side effects just won't break through a holy hedge of protection for you. Also that the chemo works wonders.
All of us are different in remission time and reaction to the chemicals, it seems. Hugs and Prayers, Saundra♥

I used it and it helped some but i used another chemo with it. The dr. told me he had a couple patients that it worked for and they were doing good. Dont think has too much side effects.

Hi Saundra, the avastin worked for me, that is what killed a lot of my tumors off. I took it oral cytoxan. Was hard to stay on it as I had the terrible headaches and super super high blood pressure. But was worth the time I did.

Hi Laura, doxil gave me a 3 month chemo break back when I took it in 2005. That was the first drug that gave me break since the original chemo. Keep us posted. Hugs Bonnie

    Sorry to hear
that you had to get this news. I would be praying and praying that when you find out that it was definitely the placebo. I think I told you before I decided not to take part in the avastin trial when it was offered to me - my son and I talked and talked about it and made the decision together. You are my hero for trying it.It is people like you and Bonnie and all the others who TAKE THE RISKS that will help find something that works on this nasty disease one day.

As far as curable - we know it is a chronic disease - so we are treatable but not curable. That's how I've always understood it any way.

I will be thinking of you often and waiting to hear what you decide to do.

    Hugs!!
