How much you want to bet that To Screen or Not to Screen will get more publicity than ANYTHING speaking about the importance of early detection! Grrrr

    Grrr Right!
Yes, that article is very biased in my opinion, and even a**anine! if that's how you spell it.
How irresponsible for them to print something like that without the oppositions viewpoint or imput from the cancer society.

    This makes me angry
If my cancer had gone undetected by screening, would I be sitting here downgraded to stage 2 and waiting for NED? NO! It would have kept growing and spreading until there was no hope of help.

This is very irresponsible reporting, especially since there was no rebuttal offered!

    Grrr for sure! Vicki

    Today Show
I saw part of this on TV this morning with Matt Lauer interviewing
two "experts".....and was astonished. frankly with Medicare
under scrutiny and the insurance companies gearing up to fight any
proposed national health care plan, I guess I am not surprised this
would have been a media subject. It is scarey if there is a proposal
to have more guidelines about when scans are done.......I expect
the American Cancer Society will gear up to fight these issues.
The man in the article who said he did not have colon cancer in his
family so wasn't going to have colonoscopy probably does not know
for certainty among all the past members of his family that he did
not have colon cancer. My dad's family members died of lung,
stomach, peritoneal, had breast cancer, etc. So if any cancer
is in the famioy, it seems prudent to have colonoscopies, mammograms
and any other tests. My concern about colon cancer is that the
push has always been to get tested after age 50 when there are so
many younger people getting colon ca under the age of 50 and are not
getting the message about family history and needing to get scanned.
Right now in Ohio we are working on getting the state legislature to
require by law that insurance companies cover the cosst of colonoscopies.
which they don't currently do. Am wondering if this news will impact some
    legislators decisions.

It is the biggest bunch of bull!
I was only 36 when they found mine and our family has already lost 3 generations to colon cancer. They need to screen early so more people can beat this disease!

there is no doubt in my mind that i have advanced cancer from lack of screening. For 5 years I had no family physician because there is a complete lack in our community.....you just picture yourself marching up to emergency med and demanding a colonoscopy.....ain't happenin baby

Grrr and double Grrrr and emailed today show
Couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went back to their site and suggested they have another show with other viewpoints, that I think their show may harm people who do need screening and the benefits of early treatment, maybe some of you others can do same, they got under our skin, lets reciprocate!

    pissed off
I complained to my PCP for 4 years about chronic diarreah. He always said Irritable Bowel and to cut my stress and eat more fiber. If it wasn't for an emergency hemmeroidectomy at age 45, I would have gone undetected for another 5 years. My stage 3 might have killed me by then. And I have not colorectal cancer that I know of in my family. Screenings should be done BEFORE 50 in my opinion.

    I agree
I agree! I keep waiting for the recommendation to be changed. I hear of SO many younger people who have colorectal cancer. This is craziness!
