good news
I'm happy that it was doable. It always feels better to get going on the road instead of dreading the start of the journey.

I'm glad Margo
I have my 4th out of 6 treatment tomorrow, and i can say it really has been much better than i feared. It helps to think of chemo as our friend helping us to kill the beast. I have not become sick yet and there are lots of meds to take care of whatever side-effect that may arise. The time has went faster than i thought before you know it..we will be done.
Get lots of rest and eat 5 small meals a day if possible. this seems to help me. Let others help you out when your tired. I hope you have peaceful sweet dreams..and best of luck!
God Bless

Glad it went well Margo.
Glad it went well Margo. It's always a little frightening the first time around since we don't know what to expect. I hope they all go as smoothly as this one. Hugs, Lili0 -
Just remember that whatever
Just remember that whatever the side effects, the potential benefit is greater. Glad the first one is behind you. Be sure to drink plenty of water, eat small frequent meals and rest when needed. Looking forward to hearing from you in the coming days.0 -
One Down!
Sending a multitude of ((((HUGS))) your way. The first one is so scary I am glad that it is behind you. Please be kind to yourself and let others help you, rest often, and enjoy yourself whenever possible. Just incase you get that metallic taste in your mouth please keep a supply of sturdy plastic utensils at hand, it helps to eat with them rather than the normal metal ones. I wish you all the best, please come let us know how you are doing.

1st Chemo Over!
Good for you!!!! Glad it wasn't as bad as you thought~ that unknown thing sure is a kick in the pants, isn't it????
I kept a small, new, plastic wastepaper can and a damp washcloth near my bed, "just in case", but I never needed it. I covered my pillowcase with a super soft towel. My mom used to do that for us when we were sick as kids, and it was a comforting throwback to that cared -for time. I mentally liked knowing that just in case "it" happened, I wouldn't have to make a mad dash to the bathroom. I didn't feel much like mad-dashing! Come to think of it, I still don't! :-)
Make sure to drink plenty of water...sip sip sip all day! Keeps you hydrated, and flushes your system.
Hugs,

Time goes by really fast once the first one is over. Before you know it, you'll be gearing up for the last treatment. Hope you're still feeling OK. Let us know.

The first one is the hardest as it is all so new and terrifying, I hope you continue to feel as good through all of them. Hugs Jxxxxx0 -

Went for my shot today--that medication stings.
Feeling fine all day today. I put crackers in my purse just in case I needed something in my stomach.
Thanks for all the replies.
Great group of people here.

Shot? as in Neulasta? Be prepared~ Neulasta's job is to speed up white cell production, and in about thirty six hours, your bones will resemble tubes of toothpaste and a Giant is squeezing the dregs out to get the last drop! Just know, it may hurt...and you can take pain meds for that...and in about 3-5 days, you will be back to "normal". On the other hand, you may have no adverse reaction at all~ I simply wanted to tell you what MIGHT happen, as my Dr gave me no warning, and all 206 bones in my body felt as if I had stood in the way of a Mack Truck! Forewarned, Forearmed, and all that jazz!!

It can be hard to put your
It can be hard to put your finger on chemo - just what are the side effects and when. I am so glad that yours went well and by all means, expect the best! We are also wishing you the same. love and support, Joyce0 -
Yes Neulasta
I had the shot yesterday at 11am and this morning when I got up at 4am the whole base of my skull is killing me as well as my right hip and shoulder blades. I will be picking up some Claritin today to see if that helps out. I don't know if my symptoms are from the Neulasta shot or I just slept wrong--tossed and turned all night--usually I am out for 8 hours straight.0 -
first chemo yesterday 3-11
Hi Margo,
My name is tracey and i had my first one yesterday as well. I was amazed at how the anti nausea drugs really help. you hear such horror stories but it wasn't that bad. i guess just looking to lose my hair now. so use to being on the go and i find myself really tired in the afternoon now. I got a prescription for a wig but have to find out where to go so my insurance will cover it, not sure if they do the whole thing or not. well, i've been up since 4a and should try to get some sleep. you have good day and good luck.0 -

I just posted to you on eyebrow regrowth thread that i too am up at 4 am. Did your DR. prescribe ativan? That works really well for anxiety, nausea AND sleep. It is all so traumatic at first and you have alot to think about, hair loss was such an anxiety for me. It took about three weeks and my head started aching, i guess this is a warning it is soon to go. I first got it cut short and then when it started falling out i had my hubbie buzz it. As for wigs, I got on-line with the ACS and asked them about them..since my local office is quite a ways from where i live. They were very prompt in calling me back. Asked me what color size and style..and i had 2 very nice wigs in the mail within 3 days. They also checked back to make sure i liked them and said i could return them if not and send me another. WOW i was blown away. I did not have to pay anything.
Hope you have a good day and get some rest it is very important. God be with you.

Hi Jackie,
Thank you for writing me, i can use all the friends i can get. I keep waiting for something to happen to me since i had my first treatment yesterday but so far i feel good, i guess it takes a few days for your body to react. i am taking a anti nausea pill in the am and pm so it's helping me a lot. i take lorazapam for sleep at night. i think i will visit a place today i heard about for wigs and scarves, i should get my prescription filled in case i need it. how are you feeling? if you don't mind my asking what stage/type of CA do you have? i hope you are feeling well and we can talk again soon.
