$6,600,000 federal grant for Ovarian Cancer Research

I thought of you all today. Many of you know that I am a grantwriter by trade. In my work I check the Federal Register every day to see what new grant opportunities are available from the federal government. You'll be happy to know that $6,600,000 was announced for ovarian cancer researchers this week from a surprising branch of government: from Military Medical Research and Development. This new research grant money is intended to develop a unique, interactive virtual academy that will provide intensive mentoring, and national networking. The overarching goal of the Ovarian Cancer Academy is to develop successful, highly productive ovarian cancer researchers in a collaborative and interactive research training environment. I hope something BIG happens for you all with this new research! I almost never see federal grant dollars for cancer research, and I thought you'd be encouraged to know some of your tax dollars are going to ovarian cancer research.

    Thank you Linda for letting us know this wonderful news. I can't think of a better way for tax dollars to be spent. Hopefully with more grants like this, ovarian cancer will be detected early and completely treatable. That will be a miracle for all of us!
