Thinking of my Pink Sisters
Just a quick line to let you know I am thinking of all of you. I am praying you are doing well after your infusions. I am going for my Chemo teaching session tomorrow so I guess I will having my first infusion soon. Thanks to all of you I will be as prepared as I can be. We went out this weekend and picked up a hair trimmer. I am going to hang on to my hair as long as I can but when the time is right I will make an appt. with Mr. Mike (my version of Mr. Joseph). I always figured I would go to see my hair styilist when i need to have my head shaved but after reading all your stories I talked to Mike and told him I thought I would be a lot more comfortable if we could do itat home. He said sure. I will hold you all in my hard and look forward to hearing from all of you. Love, Nancy

We are With You Also
Nancy, thank you for your thoughts and prayers. My heart feels a little more comforted and calm when I receive such messages from you and our sisters (and brothers) here. You are in our thoughts and prayers, especially this evening and tomorrow. During the chemo, I think it helped me to actually welcome the infusions, joining them to the fight. And I drank 2 8ozs of seven-up during the session. (It was the last time I could drink carbonated drinks, I found.) Drink all you can, is what I read here over and over. And it helps.
Also, one tip I can give: I read the Understanding Chemo brochure from ACS and followed them instead of calling the after-hours number for my doctor. Big mistake--ended up suffering diarrhea for a day when all I needed to do was start taking Immodium (2 at first blow-up, one at each following) as soon as things starting happening. So, my advice: just call your doctor. There should be an on-call oncologist who calls back within a period of time.
I agree that having Mike take care of your hair will be best. I dreaded going out in public and knew I would cry. It is so much safer and secure and loving to have someone you love and whom you love to do this for you in your own home. It becomes an act of love and not of loss as much. Of course, Mr. Joseph likes to remind me my hair will grow back (oh glory day!).0 -
Good luck Nancy
Nancy, you are in my thoughts and prayers, and any kind of support to you i will try to be.I am so thankful for all the answers and support (and giggles) I get from all of you. God works in mysterious ways ..and i believe we are all here together now for a reason, so we have someone just like us to learn, laugh and cry with, We are a good team and i know i will be just as happy for you when this is all over as i will be for me. We WILL SURVIVE!
Let us know when your first infusion is we will give you all the info we can and say a extra prayer.
Your Mike sounds like a sweetie (he has to be if you are his sunshine!) and i agree that it is a loving gesture and makes our hubbies feel they are helping in the most loving way they can to buzz us bald!!lol. no really, I wouldn't have wanted any one but Bob to do it.
May God bless you tomorrow and always,

my dear sisters in pink
hello all, I have been having a sobbing day so I decided not to get on board until late. I went to church this morning with my wig on and of course everyone had nothing but good things to say to me but all I could do is cry , cry, and of course, cry some more. Oh well my face got a good washing! Ha! Later I went to see my mother, which is in a local nursing home and it was the first time she saw me bald or with my wig and my sister was there. She was taking pictures and reassuring me and I held up pretty well there. Oh well, I guess we all have those days. Dear Nancy, I wish you the best with your first infusion and with your first buzz! We will be here for you and maybe you won't have any sobbing days like me. But, if you do we will be here with lots of hugs and maybe a tear too.
Lots of Love sisters,
GOD BLESS YOU ALL Michelle0 -

Girls, I know only too well about those sobbing days. Everytime, someone came up to me and offered kind words, my eyes would fill up and the tears would start flowing down. I never knew that a person could produce so many tears. Now, one year after treatment, I can say that it actually gets better. Though we still have some sobbing days, they are few and far away. Know that we are here to vent, share, laugh, cry and joke. I love you all my sisters in pink, Hugs, Lili0 -
Lili, Your reassurances have meant so much to me! And you are absolutely right. I still have sobbing days , but now there are REAL good days and major parts of days where I don't feel anxious and sad, too. Thanks so much for your support. Lynnmmontero38 said:Sobbing Days
