Boob mug shots

Started my radiation on Thursday. They took a picture of my face that goes on this light board when you come into treatment. They and you check that the picture that is up is you and that the name and birthday match. Just a check so they know they are doing the right treatment for the right person. At the end of my simulation, they told me that they also take polaroids of your breast. They did a front shot and a side view. It was just like a mug shot of your boob. See that proves that cancer is bad. In fact, it is criminal. Validation if there ever was validation. The radiation person cracked up when I asked her if it would soon be in post offices across the country. Don't know if everyone has had boob shots as I hadn't seen that posted by anyone. Just thought it was a funny aspect to share.

    Boob shots
That is funny... I wonder if they do that at all the radiation clinics? I am still in the chemo stage and have kept my head in the sand until the time for radiation comes.

    Good luck!

My boob shots are at the local Post Office...they are Wanted~ just not sure by whom! I do remember the face shot, but can't remember the Boob one-- but no doubt that happened too! You are correct....Cancer is a crime! It sure isn't a gift, who would give that to someone? Or even re-gift it?

    Hugs,

    No re-gifting
I love the Wanted just not sure by whom. Too funny. Not sure if every facility does the boob pictures.
And you are right, we don't want to re-gift for so many reasons. One is sometimes you get re-gifted with the very gift you gave. Not good!!

Well girlfriend, they took shots before my bilateral mastectomy, took shots afterwards, took shots before taking the extenders out, took shots after the implants, took shots before the nipple reconstruction, took shots afterwards, took shots before the tatooing. I feel like I am going to be a photo spread for Victoria Secret....I already earned my wings after the chemo. It has been a standing joke with my doctor that I feel after watching all those photos, does he need a cigerate. Well, with all said and totally done, my new girls are amazing. I have not posted my picture but thought I'd just use the last boob shot...hehehe. Angela

    Rads aren't so bad
I didn't have to do chemo so I can't speak to that, but radiation is not too bad. I did pelvic (external and internal) before, so I know the general stuff to expect. And the internal was very uncomfortable, embarrassing and I had so many side effects (some long term) that doing the breast is much easier for me. Pelvic gave me nausea, diarrhea, UTI issues and some of these have continued and they feel my bladder cancer was probably a result of the radiation (this is a rare side effect and was easily treated). The skin problems happen with most radiation and I have my creams etc. and the tiredness is also a common side effect with any radiation so I know what to expect there. From what all the ladies here say about the chemo experience, radiation will be easier. My sister also had breast cancer. Her's was more advanced (larger tumor, several nodes involved) so she did chemo, mastectomy, chemo, now she is finishing radiation and doing herceptin. She said the radiation is much easier than her chemo was. She also went regularly for her mammograms. When they saw something on her left breast they did further screening and decided to take a wait and see approach. So she went back in 6 months and then they decided to biospy because it was more than twice the size it was orginally. It was cancer and it was now in 6 of 18 nodes. I just wished she had told me about the wait and see approach they wanted to take. I would have told her to insist on a biopsy. My findings were not apparent on the second screenings either but they recommended doing a biopsy immediately. Even back several years ago when I had microcalcifications they did the biopsy then not 6 months later. But she is doing okay and she is tough and a fighter. Here I am rambling again. I can get off track so easily. I start with one train of thought and soon I am transferring from station to station. You'll get used to me I hope.

That was so funny. I can just him see lighting up and sighing over the photos. Glad the new girls are good. And wouldn't it be hysterical to have your twins be staring out at us next time we looked at one of your posts. After all jugs are art work, are they not?

    Tattoos
Man.............as if it wasn't bad enough being a skin-head, then they tattoo me? My Sister wanted to know when I was going to get the body piercings and rough-up orphans and set fire to old peoples homes just for fun?.. Hey, sometimes I feel like a one-legged-man at an arse-kicking-party.
HUGE HUGS to you all J

Here's what they said to me
That reminded me, one of the other ladies at radiation said right after they snapped the pictures "You won't even recognize it on the internet". Of course, I already have a boob on the internet. Well not a boob exactly but the tattoo that is just above my left boob. It's a tiger lily with a fairy sitting in it. If I can remember the site, I'll tell you where and if you want you can take a look at it (The tattoo, not my boob). I had it done 2 years after my 1st diagnosis. It was my "I'm alive and I want to do something a little out on the edge". My mom said that at my age, by the time I regretted doing it I would be senile and wondering who put it there. The tattoo artist wanted to place it lower on my breast but I explained with drooping boobs soon to be in my future if she put it where she suggested the fairy's feet would one day soon reach the floor.

Oh my gosh, you are all
Oh my gosh, you are all crackin' me up! Too darned funny, and I needed the laugh. Now, please tell me they at least offered you some MONEY for the shots! After all, if it was Playboy taking the snaps, you KNOW you would be compensated Hefnerly! ;-) Ellie
