Hi,
I've just finished my second round of Vectibix. The first round produced a real bad rash yet NOTHING happened on the second round. I take Vectibix alone as a third line of treatment. Just wondering how many have taken Vectibix alone and how many treatments have you recieved? Fez1...am wondering how you are doing as well? Hope all is well!

    took Erbitux
    Hi,

I took Erbitux, which is in the same family as Vectibix. Have you been k-ras tested? If not, make sure you get it done ASAP, as it is now considered standard of care to test for this before placing anyone on Vectibix or Erbitux (I speak from experience- I was put on Erbitux in Sept. without being tested and was on it for 8 weeks- my surgeon then suggested the testing and I found out I have the k-ras mutation and that both Erbitux and Vectibix would be worthless for me. I had a HORRIBLE rash and went through it for nothing. This could probably also be an answer to the question of is it working better if you get a bad rash- I've heard this & was told this when my rash was so bad. That certainly turned out not to be the case with me, since I have a kras mutation and know that my cancer would never respond to Erbitux/Vectibix). So, just wanted to warn you about that.

Also, I read an article just a couple of days ago that it's now being recommended to go on the meds (topical and/or oral) for the rash as preventative measures, even before the rash breaks out. This is because it can be difficult to get rid of in some people who wait to treat it afterwards. Sounds like you're doing ok, since nothing happened after your second treatment. Just beware of it. I am probably an extreme case, but I've been off of Erbitux for almost four months now. The acne part of the rash is gone, but my face is still covered with the speckly bright red rash. Nothing I've done for it has made it get any better. Fortunately, as a woman, I'm able to wear makeup which does help, but it definitely still shows.
I just want to prevent others going through what I went through. Best wishes to you!

    Hi
Thanks for your response. I did have the K-Ras test done...in fact the test was done twice by mistake..and the results were opposite of each other!!!! Therefore MD decided to go for it and second opinion agreed. Can I ask, what are you taking now and was this your third line of chemo?
