Hello Fellow Young Survivors,

Hey, I'm just at the far end of being in this category. I'm turning 38 next week (was 36 at diagnosis). For some of you, 38 probably seems 'OLD.' But for breast cancer it is considered young.

Anyway, wanted to see who else is out there reading posts in this section. (I visit the breast cancer section nearly every day...it's been a wonderful place to go). And I check here often, but noticed that there's not as much 'action' here. Just wandering if people are looking, but not posting, or what.

So if you have some time, let me know you're there!!! And let us know a little about yourself.

I'm married and have 4 boys ages 11, 9, 7, 5. Just finished my treatment (lumpectomy, chemo, bilateral mastectomy and ovaries removed, then radiation and the last half of my Herceptin treatments). Trying to accept this 'new normal,' but not handling it as gracefully as I did at first.

    My name is Ross. I'm a 28 year old ALL survivor (22 years out). I come here and post periodically, but like you I don't see much in the way of action.

    "New normal" is sort of a strange term for me. I was diagnosed so young that the hardships of the life have always been normal to me. I sort of look at so called "normal" people and view their lives as abnormal.

    I'm a bit odd that way!

    Nope. I'm here too. 29 at dx of breast cancer. Just turned 31 last month. I do read this forum once in a while but I also noticed that there is very little traffic.

    I am here, I just today decided to look at the other discussion boards , so I was just dumb to the fact that this sight was here. I am 36 years old and was dx on Nov. 24, 2008. I had a bilateral mast. and 25 lymphs removed, 2 were positive. It was er and pr positive but her2 negative . I started reconstruction at the time of surgery , which was almost as painful as the mast. I waited until my last resort to even look for a support group. I thought I didn't need one. I thought I was strong enough by myself. Ha!!! I am married for almost 14 years with 2 children, 17 year old girl, "senior" oh my goodness, and a 8 year old son with asperger autism. They are all of my life and very supportive. I have 2 sisters and a brother who are as well very supportive. But as I have found out, no matter how many friends, family and fellow supporters you have, you still have days where you feel alone and it is great to be able to come to a site like this. I love each and every one of my dear sisters in pink. Is anyone going to be a part of the 3 day. org? If so please let me know. It is so far away from me but I feel a sense of pride just to be one of those....
    Glad to know I'm not the only one who feels like 36 is too young to have cancer.

    I'm a Michelle, too! My sister nicknamed me Chellebug when I was little. Though no one really calls me that anymore, I like to use it.....makes me feel young.

    I keep wobbling on the idea of reconstruction. I had my bilateral mastectomies in April and chose not to do anything at the time. Just not sure if I'm up for any more surgery yet (I'd had two lumpectomies prior to my mastectomies). Thankfully, if I ever decide to do it, I can.

    What is the 3 day.org? I think I must have missed something.

    You know whats funny is that
    You know whats funny is that when I was growing up my brothers and sisters used to call me shell, now my son's name is DRU and I call him DRUBUG! Ironic isn't!!! anyway, the 3 day.org is a 3/60 kinda like Relay for Life except this is longer and only for breast cancer. Your team has 3 days to walk 60 miles and they only do it in certain cities. I wished I could be part of that but the closest one to me is in Atlanta and that is so far away. you can go to the Susan G. Komen site and search for the3day.org site . It is awesome. You should check it out.
