Hello Mel
I am glad you decided to connect with us. You will find some of the most understanding and caring people here.
If you enjoy an 'immediate' connection, you might like to join our chat room. It sometimes takes awhile to load, but is worth the wait. If no one is there when you go in, don't be discouraged. We pop in and out all the time. The busiest times seem to be mid-afternoon and evening.
Hope to see you there!0 -

WELCOME
Mel
I had the same encounter with friends when my husband started treatment, it is a common thing. It is a test of who really are your friends. I found this site and then the chat room. It is a wonderful place to be, sometimes you don't have to say anything, just being there helps. It's true that sometimes the place is packed and you can't get a word in edgewise, but you can laugh at the conversations LOL. There are truely great people in there, I call them my angels, because they have helped me so much through all of the process of the loss.
hope to see you there

Hi, I'm new to this group. I've been posting to the Stomach Cancer since my husband was diagnosed in Jan. He was diagnosed with advanced, unresectable stomach cancer. The original plan was 3 rounds of chemo and then surgery. Well, the chemo had no effect on the tumor and then there was a questionable spot on his liver. So then, we tried to get in a clinical trial in Birmingham AL. We are in Atlanta. He did not qualify for the clinical trial because he did not test positive for some type of protein. So now here we are, we met with a radiation oncologist on last Friday. Hubby will begin a radiation regimen of 30 treatments on Monday. He is 38 yo and we have two beautiful boys, ages 11 and 7.
I'm holding it together somehow. It's just so hard watching him suffer when he's never been remotely sick before. Today he had a stent put in because of obstruction at the top of his stomach. The dr told me he would be in pain and he would have some nausea. Well, he's been moaning in pain since we got home. I want to help but I don't know what to do. I'm hoping the meds just need time to kick in.0 -

I am very new to this network. My sister is about to start her chemo and I ended up here because ...well many reasons. So, I am here now for you to tell you what everyone has been saying to me. Be strong, keep talking, come here if you need answers or just to vent. I have found that has been key for me. I am not my sisters direct caregiver so I can't imagen what you go through, but please know that along with many others I have found on this site you have been added to my prayers. And like I told the others I pray a lot!
Bless you, your husband and the boys!0 -

Thanks Roxanne. I do pray a lot and I read the Bible every night. This board has become an outlet for me although the stomach cancer board is very slow. I sometimes post on the colonrectal board just to get a response. But I'll come here as well to check-in when I can.0
