Finding work for cancer survivors

I am a twenty year broadcast veteran in NY who just completed my second round of cancer and chemo. I am ready to go back to work, but, cannot find a job. My background has been mostly in talk radio as a producer and host. The business has changed drastically in the last several years, so the work opportunities have practically dried up.

I shared your situation, as have many other cancer patients, and witnessed before the House Subcommittee on Employment Opportunities in 1987. Unfortunately, the ability to work and the ability to find work are often mutually exclusive, especially for cancer patients. Fortunately, "we" are now protected from discrimination under the Americans with Disabilities Act, but we still need to find available position openings in our respective fields. You might inquire at a local affiliate of Air America (http://airamerica.com/stations), known for non-discriminatory hiring practices.

Eventually, I found work, and you will too. We cancer survivors are tenacious individuals.
