I was answering a blog tonight and a rather delightful memory of my sister Susan popped into my head so I am sharing. As most of you know I have battled cancer several times, the second being for me the most difficult. Well, my sister Susan would for no reason at all send me a gift in the mail along with a short note. Once it was a spoon rest for the stove top with my name engraved on it, another time it was an angel broach, a sister book,a box of chocolates, once it was even a calendar of sexy men, just a little something to say she loved me and to lift my spirits which it always did. Tonight this memory of her love has brightened my soul and brought a smile to my lips. Many thanks for letting me share.

You had quite The Relationship with your sister, didn't you? She was a true nurturer, and certainly a kindred spirit. Thanks for allowing us to know her through you, RE~I know you cherish her memory, and we sooo appreciate your sharing these rememberances with us.

    Hugs,

Thanks for sharing your memory. More than 10 years ago, when my little sister got married and I was "best woman" she gave me a silver heart box. We have used that heart box to pass between us for any reason, with any imaginable gift inside. Sometimes it had a holiday treat, more often than not it comes "just because". It has been a wonderful connection/keepsake for us no matter how busy or how far we are. I celebrate your connection with your sister.

    Sweeet!!!!
Your HeartBox for some reason reminded me of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, in that the box you and your sister share is just the "right fit at the right time"...what a wonderful tradition!

When going through chemo, my sister sent me a sexy men thing too. It was called Porn for Women and it had clothed, but handsome guys saying things like "No, let ME change the kitty litter" and "Lets turn off the football game and go antique shopping instead"...things women REALLY want to hear. I loved it.
Your sister stories loosens a lot of memories for us all, and brings love out. How nice of you to share them. love, Joyce

RE, Thank you so much for sharing more about your sister. What a special lady! I can't imagine how much you must miss her. So glad you have wonderful memories to make you smile! Those sister bonds are so special. My sister that's four years older than me, was diagnosed with breast cancer little more than a year before me. Having her there to lean on when I was diagnosed, is what got me through. She made me determined, gave me hope, and lifted me up everytime I got down. She's three years out and doing well. She continues to inspire me. Sisters are truly a blessing! Fran

    Sisters are a blessing
I lost my older sister 17 years ago after she battled breast cancer for 3 years. She left behind two little girls. I miss her dearly. When I was battling cancer some nine years later my younger sister, whose nick name was mouse, would sent me little mini note cards every week featuring "Vera the mouse". They always seemed to arrive just when my spirits needed a lift.
