second scan and it came back positive
I wonder why they cant just give me the shots to rid the iodine from my body instead of this diet. I have been on this diet about 4 times now and I just cant stand it any more. lol I would a bowl of tomato soup and a grill cheese sandwich.

Sorry
Hi shortstuff,
I can't say I understand what you are going through because my thyroid cancer was just diagnosed but I wanted to let you know that I'm sorry you are having to go through all of this once again. But just remember that in the long run the treatment will give you a chance at staying alive. It's all part of the fight that we all face and you are strong enough to fight!!! Good luck on the 24th. You will be in my prayers.

I am sorry you are having to deal with this all over again. I remember with me it took me into a huge depression but now you know what to expect so hopefully you will be able to bounce back. I know you are a fighter and you will soar through this. Just hang in there.shortstuff00 said:Second scan

I know its scary. I'm kind of in the same boat. I had my thyoid taken out last october and haven't had a 6 month scan.. maybe they do it differently in Canada but I am going for my year scan since the treatment in december. I'm worried too though cause my doctors are concerned about my high thyroglobulin levels.. since it should be at zero. When I had my surgery they had to take out all the lymph nodes on the left side of my neck because there was cancer in them too. So now I'm worried that they didnt get it all and that it could have spread to the rest of my lymphatic system. Plus, of course the doctors dont give you any information because they keep saying we'll worry about it after your scan. I wish they would at least let me know what to expect, they didnt the first time when it was cancer.. they kept saying that 90% of the time is benign. and then it was such a shock. I just wish I had some information so I at least can be prepared.

Yes it does. I was having back pain in may of last year ans when they did a MRI they called ans said they found noduales on my thyriod. Thyroird runs im my family but I had not had any problems yet with it. Out of seven kids in my family only two now dont have thyroid problems. I called my sister right away and told her because she had hers taken out because it was cancer about 20 years ago. She told me to go look up all the stuff she looked up and we read that if the nodules are solid that means cancer. So when I went for a ultra sound my left was full of solid noduals and a couple on the right. So I knew right away what I was up against. I went in on Nov 15th 2007 and they took out my left side and my right too. Both sides where cancer and it was starting to take hold of the main artery in my neck. OMG so that was scary. For the next 6 months I have been not able to regulate my thyroid. I started at 250 mg and went down to 125 but im still all over the place. I have had no engery and very moody. I was still working a very fast pace job and just trying to deal with my back problems and this. All my blood work comes back negative for cancer so I thought I was ok. But when they did the scan it came back posative. So they did a ultra sound to see if they could see anything. Nothing showed up. They dont know if its just tissue or cancer. I had surgry on my back a week ago and now im getting my treament again on the 24th. I have so much on my plate right. I just hope this treament works. We wont know untell six months when we do the scan again to see if any thing shows up. I need to have two negative scans to be sure. When my sister had hers she only had to have one treament. She gets checked out once a year now and she is fine. We started checking out our kids to see. So far only 4 kids showed up with thyroid problems. My little sisters kids all 4 of them are on meds now. One brother is hper the rest are all hypo so he is the skinny one in the family. lol. I know I will get thought this its just long and the diet is terable. tooo bad they cant just give us a shot like they do for the scan for our treatment it would make it easy.meagz said:I am sorry you are having to deal with this all over again. scan
Hi all,
Due to some questionable thyroglobulin levels last year, I am having follow-up scans regularly again. I had my thyrogen injections Mon & Tues & today the i131. Tonight I had horrible indigestion & naseau. Is that co-incidence ? I don't remember that happening before. Is Tums allowed on this stupid diet?0
