narcotic induced constipation

I have had problems with severe constipation since starting on pain meds and no relief from any laxatives or life-style changes with the last boost to oxycontin. Lucky to get a small bm, even enema assisted and as long as 5 days. The body just stopped having to go.
My daughter-in-law talks with her obgyn about me with regard to family history, ovarian cancer and now the problems, I'm having. Her Doc just read in an AMA journal, that a drug was released this summer that gives you back the ability to move bowels and even empty out, as I did, a lot more than a day's worth.
The drug is called Relistor. It's given in injections every other day. Look up on the net for full description. I've had no problem with side effects and TOTAL relief from constipation!
Good luck to all of you dealing with this and if you know someone who is, pass it along..thanks to this board for posting.
