plaque from radiation

I read the article in the IAL News recently concerning the plaque build up in the carative arteries from radiation treatments. The article was right on. I recieved radiation in 1960 at age six for cancer of the larynx, rhabdomiosarcoma. I had been cancer free and problem free until four years ago I suddenly lost my lower perifial vision. After a few days of testing in the hospital, it was diagnosed that plaque from my throat area radiation treatments had broke free and went into my bloodstream and into my eyes, causing the vision loss. The opthalmoligists said it was a one in a million occurence, both eyes at the same time. I am perfectly fine other than that. I had to retire after 31 years because of the vision loss. I am adapting to the vision loss and pretty much live normally again. I have been prescribed Plavix, Lipitor and asperin to try and prevent further problems. I have been cancer free for 50 years now and enjoying life. I recently wrote a book about that period of my life, 1959-60, 'Hello Cancer...Remember Me?' Can be found on the PublishAmerica web sight.     The easiest way to locate other CSN members with similar experiences is to type keywords (such as "plaque build up," "peripheral vision," "vision loss," etc.) on the search bar at the top of the home page. You can refine your search by clicking on the “Advance search” link listed underneath the search field. The major categories of content on CSN are blogs, discussion boards, “About Me” pages, etc. For example, if you are looking for a specific resource on the Resource Library, you can limit your search to resources only by clicking on the "resource" and "advanced search" button at the bottom of the "advanced search" box. Remember that you must be logged on if you want to post anything on a discussion boards, view personal pages, use the chat room, etc.

    Thanks for the heads up! About two months ago, I was rubbing left eye and looking out of my right eye when I realized that something was not right. Went to the ophtamologist. Gave me some eyedrops. Went back two weeks later to check again. He gave me the peripheal vision test and showed me the diagram. I can't see the top area which means that I'm losing some sight. Says that my optic nerves are pale, not enough blood circulation. He wants to run another test, but hasn't been trained on the machine yet. He gave me some eyedrops for glaucoma. In the meantime, I've made another appointment with another ophtamoligist, but my apointment is not until the end of the month. (Please excuse any mis-spelling, but having difficulty with spelling and learning new words since the treatment.
