Taxol joint pain

O.K., this is the 2nd time I've typed this---I agree, this site leaves A LOT to be desired.
I finished A/C and just got Taxol #1. Now I have pain in my leg and hip joints. It's enough of an ache to keep me up at night. Took naproxen (Aleve) with not much relief. Tylenol was only slightly better. When I took my occasional Ativan, it didn't knock me out like it usually did. Does anyone have a better suggestion? My poor cats just aren't getting a full nights rest with me turning and tossing! LOL

    I also had terrible bone and joint pain with the Taxol. Everyone told me that Taxol would be a "walk in the park" compared to the A/C. It was just the opposite. It was horrific. My doctor gave me Percocet. It helped although at times I had to juggle the leg pain with an upset stomach because of the Percocet. Ask your doctor for a pain med. The leg pain stopped shortly after I finished the treatment. You can get through it. Just talk to your doctor. You shouldn't have to suffer. Best of luck to you!

    Joint Pain
    I had joint pain while I was on taxotere (a cousin of taxol). Aleve and the other over-the-counter pain relievers didn't do the job. I called my PA in my oncologist's office and she prescribed hydrocodone (the generic of Vicodin). I don't like taking it, but when the pain was bad enough, it sure did the trick and not only could I sleep at night, but I had relief during the day, too. Hydrocodone can be addictive - I think. So its something to be used with caution. Hope this helps. Hugs, Marilynn

    I don't know if I would call Taxol a walk in the park, but it sure was easy compared to Adriamycin/Cytoxan. There was no nausea/dizziness/jumpiness,etc...that I had with A/C. That was a nightmare for me. But anyway, I had pin pricks of pain in my feet, ankles, lower back and the tops of my hands while on Taxol. Advil seemed to do the trick for me but it sounds like your pain is more severe. I would definitely talk with your oncologist and perhaps he can perscribe something stronger. I hate to take pills but if the pain is interfering with your sleep you probably should consider it. Good luck, Eileen

    Well, I guess this was a case of not having the toothache once you get to the dentists office!
    The next night was fine, and the aches are now small and manageable (I need spell check).
    BUT, I will definitely add all your suggestions to my "bag of tricks" in case I need them in the future.
    Once again this great group of collective experience came thru---thank you all!
