Hi cancer fighters and survivors, i need your urgent advice. My boyfriend - 26 years old was diagnosed with colon cancer 4 years ago, he now wears a colostmy bag. 8 months ago during a routine checkup they've found a cancerous nodul on his tailbone, after 12 chemo treatments and surgery, the nodule was removed and he was NED. However last week after a CT and PET scan, they've found a nodule in his lung(2cm), they will remove it next week and there is no cancer in any other part of the body. Can someone please let me know what is his chance of survival? I love him dearly and any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Jenny, you sound like a wonderful girlfriend. My feeling on the chance of survival is that none of us are immortal. This disease makes us all face that reality. No one can answer the question you ask, because we simply don't know. This will be a tough decision for you, because there are no sure bets in life. I pray that whatever you decide, you will be able to look forward without regret.

Hi Jenny, first of all, being strong and walking along side a man during this time in his life is quite admariable. Cancer is one of the big causes of breakups and divorce, it can be quite a strain on a family unit. from what you have told us, it seems that odds are good, but like Jams67 said, this is so personal to each individual, it is difficult to say. has his oncologist given him any statistics on survival?? and even with the stats, they are not nearly as accurate today, many more are living now than in the past.
you can only go by what your heart is telling you. I wish your boyfriend the best of health and a long life as a cancer survivor and I wish you are able to find happiness in what leads you.
