Hi all,
I am new to this site; have been encouraged by reading your messages. This is such an upbeat
group; I tried another site and found it more
depressing than I already was. I was dx with
colon ca stage 2, no node involvement in 2004.
Had surgery; no chemo. Thought all was going well
until this year when they found a large tumor on my
liver. Will have surgery July 18; please keep me
in your prayers. This has been so emotionally
wrecking; particularly when it was caught in such
an early stage. This wasn't supposed to happen according to my oncologist; well that makes me
feel even worse. Don't know what to expect next. Anyone have a similar situation?
Any suggestions about how to cope with the anxiety
and downright fear? It helped to read some messages from some of you who have had liver mets
surgery.

I'm sorry you have to go through this again, but the really good news is that you are resectable, therefore curable. I know personally, and on this site, many people who have been cured after a liver resection. My advice to you is to take care of yourself physically, mentally and emotionally so that you will go through your surgery with flying colours. I had 75% of my liver resected, and I was walking to the washroom by the next day. As for the doctor making that assinine comment, it never ceases to amaze me at what comes out of their mouths. Once you are diagnosed with cancer, and I don't care what stage, we must always, always be vigilant. Only by being vigilant, and informed, can we make the right decisions and try to keep ahead of this disease. Be strong, keep the faith, and most of all, be patient. This is just another bump on the road to you being healthy, again. Monica0

I have a few posts about Stage II with only surgery and than a few years later it returns. I was DX with Stage II Colon Cancer (NO/MO) in 06. Had my tumor removed (emergency surgery) and my Onc. Doctor explained to me that industry standard was Adjuant Chemotherapy for Stage II (FLOFOX Regime).
I will say a prayer for you....... AMEN0 -
Just wanted to let you know that tears and fears would only be normal at a time like this. Give your self lots of time to process the whole thing. I had the same shocking diagnosis at 39 yrs, less than a year ago. It took me a good 5 to 6 months to feel more like myself.
Your biggest job is to be sure you have the very best doctors and are having the right procedure for you. Are you having a liver resection? How big is your tumor? Is it a wedge resection?
I had a liver resection in Dec '07 and currently have no evidence of disease. There us hope.
Just know you are not alone..
Let us know how we can help you with that powerful tool...information.
Praying for you,
Jennifer
These are some of my favorite informational colon cancer sites. The first is like myspace for cc so check it out.

ACOR is the Association for On-line Cancer Resources, and their Web site is http://www.acor.org/index.html. Excellent place to pose questions! A must for those wishing to learn the most about this disease.

Hi. Know how you must feel. Hubby had a liver resection, several mets. Has been doing well for the most part for the last 9 mos. We've hit a little rough patch, but we'll get through it again but the moral of the story is keep the faith. My hubby was out of the hospital after liver resection in 5 days. It's not a walk in the park, but the liver resection was easier for him to recover from than the colon resection. How do you cope with the anxiety? You just take it one day, one scan , one test , one surgery at a time. Remind yourself of the fact that surgery is an option for you. For many it hasn't been. Think positive that once its over , your going to hear the words everyone here wants to hear, your NED, no evidence of disease. Come here often for support. You'll hear many words of encouragement and success stories.
God Bless,
