Wedding and 1st chemo
Chemo didn't go so well, IV infiltrated with the adriamycin It is only now getting better. The first 5 days were ok, only no appetite and occ nausea by sunday i was shivering tired, cold sweats ect. I ended up in hospital neutropenic, my white cell count was 0.7 and nuetrophils 0.03. I guess the neulasta hadn't kicked in yet. I had a neupergin shot, the white count ended up soaring to 4.4 by thursdays d/c. I neded up with Thrush of mouth and throat. I hope my next chemo on july 8th will be better, getting a port in also that am. I just got caught up on all the posts, new hints etc. P.S. I got a pink mohawk, it sure is a conversation starter. Hoping it will last another week, I am walking in a parade with the Warriors in Pink to support Breast Cancer Awareness on the 4th of July. So to all my cyber sisters===Love you All GOD BLESS send some positive thoughts my way for the next chemo tx= It's gonna be better!!!!!

I had to reply to you!! Partially because I was married by the shore on Kelley's Island in Ohio where everyone wore bathing suits and shorts and we rode to the wedding site on a golf cart which we drove around the island on, beeping the horn with a "Just Married" sign on the back! We are celebrating our 15th anniversary on Friday, July 4th. Just reading your wedding paragraph made me smile think back to that day and how happy I was!!
I'm so sorry to hear about your first chemo. I can relate. First of all, my first chemo was last July 24th on my 56th birthday. Happy Birthday to me! And, I did not have a good tolerance to the adriamycin/cytoxin either. At one point, my white cell count was down to 200 (which meant mine was .02) in my entire body. I was sick, weak, and no matter how much water I drank, always got dehydrated. It is a horrible thing to go through, no matter what anyone tells you. My motto was to "just keep moving forward" and get through each treatment.
Thanks for walking in the "Warriors in Pink"--I give you a lot of credit doing that in the middle of treatment! Hope to hear back from you...0 -
Hi Patty, so sorry for all you are going through. I know Adriamycin/cytoxan is horrible. I felt ill the second it entered my vein. After a few infusions I was tempted to stop the treatments they made me so sick. But you must remember that even though the chemicals are toxic, and we hate them, they are ALSO toxic to cancer cells! Stay strong, and remember the light at the end of the tunnel(and good health) is getting closer with each infusion. I will keep you in my prayers and good luck with the walk. Hugs, Eil0

Congratulations Patty to many years of happiness. Hoping your next infusion goes easier, have your doctor prescribe meds for the nausea, There are many out there and they do help. Just keep in mind that it will soon be over and that there is light at the end of the tunnel. Hugs to you, Lili0

I am going to stay positive, next chemo tuesday the 8th. My hair is starting to fall out, the mohawk actually looked good on a 41yo. It made me look younger, in my 30's. I wonder how the Kojak look will be?mmontero38 said:Congratulations Patty to many years of happiness.
