NEW CANCER CELLS ON THE BRAIN

The last scan showed two spots of cancer on the brain (6mm each) and this is new for us, because before the brain was clear.
The doctor explained to us the small cell cancer likes to travel to the brain.
In plan A, the doctor will give my husband a preventive dosis on the brain, but now he is receiving a complete treatment. It means he could have more side effects, but he is very positive and see this like a oportunity to kill all cancer cell possible on his brain. He told me I'm big I need a complete treatment. For big problems, big solutions...... Has anybody received radiation on the brain and have a comment for me. thank you.

    My husband's grandmother is taking radiation and chemo for brain cancer. She has the aggressive kind Glioblastoma multiforme. I know that she has had problems with her brain swelling from the radiation. They have been able to control it with high doses of steriods. I don't know if this is common when radiation is given on the brain or because she had surgery to have the tumors removed. Anytime they tried to lower her dosage of the steriods, she would have seizures but as long as they kept it up there she doesn't have them. The steroids make her very hyper I guess you could say and makes it hard for her to sleep. She feels like she can tackle the world right now. And their have been personality changes that I am not sure if it is the steroids, changes in the brain from radiation, or changes from the surgery. I want to say they are more apparent when she is on the steroids. I will try to find out more for you as far as reactions and stuff if you like. Its been told to me but at this time I think I will remember every detail and I forget most of it. Between her and mom dealing with breast cancer and lung cancer and my grandaddy's bladder cancer, it seems like all the info just gets swished around until its a jumbled mess in my brain like a bowl of Alpha Bits(I think that is the name of that cereal with all the letters). I don't know if this helps any but I just thought I would tell you her experiences. Iw ill keep you and your husband in my thoughts and prayers.

    Thank you Shanna to share your experience. We have a similar experience. The Mom of my husband faced breast cancer. She is ok now, but they removed her breast and was a difficult time. After that my husband started feeling not good and after several visits to the doctors (5 months) they found the tumor on the rigth lung. I can understand your situation . But we need to keep fighting.........
    Now we are dealing with radiations, and my husband started with some headache and the doctor said if the headache is too high , he needs to take steroids. The reason of the pain is because the radiation causes inflamation of the brain and the steroids helps to release the inflamation. But my husband doesn't want to take it. He is eating more anti-oxidants foods and resting. He told me he feels better if he stay calm during the treatment and relaxing. So for now he is not taking the steroids. I hope he don't have to......
