My friend has Small Cell Lung Cancer and was told today that the radiation did nothing for her, the Chemo did not either. They are sending her to Boston for another opinion but told her this did not look good. I refuse to give up hope and told her not to also. I am very worried about her now and was wondering if anyone else out there knew is there something else they can do?

hi, first, what type of sclc (limited or extensive) , what chemo's, I am a sclc survivor(limited), she is doing the right thing to go to a major hospital for a second opinion. I had the radiation also and it did nothing for my tumor. There is much advancement in cancer research so getting the second opinion is critical. I had cisplatnum and etopicide(vp-16) initially and had problems with it and was changed to carboplatnum, etopicide and taxol. It made the tumor shrink. I hope this helps some and I will keep you and your friend in my prayers and offer any of my past expericences to you. God bless, mike0

I think hers is extensive, but still contained to the lung. Nothing in the brain or anything. I know she got sick on the chemo had some type of reaction so they stopped that. I am trying to keep her hopeful and somedays this is not an easy task. I am thankful for your prayers for her and refuse to give up hope for her...Thankshandle said:hi, first, what type of sclc (limited or extensive) , what chemo's, I am a sclc survivor(limited), she is doing the right thing to go to a major hospital for a second opinion.
