lost partner from lung cancer in Feb

Posting this message is first for me. My partner died in February 08. The cancer was already Stage 4 when she was diagnosed in Jan 07. I am wondering if there is anyone who has walked through something similar with their partner and has any wise words on living with the grief.

Dear Saraswati,
We are sorry to hear about your loss. I am sorry for your loss. I too am sorry I couldn't respond earlier but have had to go home to parents to spend time with them while I can. I go back to my birth place and often work while I am there so it doesn't set me back like it use to. I am very fortunate I can go home for long periods of time and between friends and family it doesn't seem too hard on any one of them.
I am the survivor but well know the grief from my losses along the way. My partner with the help of her brother and myself was able to keep her mother home until her death 5 years ago. The gief was unbearable at times and for partner it was heart breaking since she and her mother were the best of friends.
Your partner was as I am today, very lucky to have found someone who stuck by them and that isn't always an easy choice or thing to do. I had a 15 year old son at the time and I was grateful that he had someone that cared as much about him as I did and that helped to change his world and mine as well.
I hope that you come by and notice that another has written. Finding those that truly understand sometimes can be a challange snce often our loved ones think we should just get over it at some point. I am not so sure we ever truly ever do but we certainly can find a comfortable place for all we feel and move forward in our lives.
Pain too is a process...
Thinking of you
