Update on Carol

Hello! Just wanted to give you a quick update on my progress. My surgery was 4/30, and I came home 5/5, and my first chemo was 5/8. I had some difficulties the Sunday after my chemo, and ended up in the local ER (which was not all that helpful). The next day i went back to Wilmington where I had the surgery and chemo, and they admitted me ovrnight. They did a parasynthesis (have no clue on the spelling there), and took 2.8 liters of fluid off my abdomen. That helped tremendously! I went back home the next day, and hopefully am on a better track now. I am on carbo/taxotiere, and so I guess I will find out next week if I am going to lose my hair or have it thin a lot. I am struggling a little with the nausea, but am trying to get that under control.

    Carol, you well lose your hair on that combination, so be ready for handfuls of hair. It is good time of the year to shake it loose outside for all the bird to line their nests with. Glad they drained the fluid from your abdomen for you, I remember how much relief it gives. Stay strong, come here often and remember we are all lifting you in prayer. Hugs N Prayers Bonnie

    Dear Carol, We are uplifting you in your ordeal. My that fluid thingy is new to me. My hair doesn't know what to do. I lose a little three weeks after my chemo and then have more Taxol the next week and some grows back and then I loose some more. Some of the strands are two inches long but it is so sparce it is funny. Joe thinks I look like the little bird in Peanuts. A friend with prostate/bone cancer told me last week that an ice bag on
    the head while getting chemo was supposed to keep it from falling out too much. I am not going to try that! [[[hugs]]]

    Hi Carol. I'm so glad you gave us an update. I did carbo/taxotere also and lost my hair although I didn't have a shiny cue ball head - I always had fuzz near my ears and the very back of my neck. I am so glad you went in when you had problems instead of waiting - it had to be a relief to get the fluid drained.

    I will keep you in my thoughts. Sending hugs.
