Hi everyone and happy Easter.I know that neuropathy is common during and after chemo, but has anyone had it in their arms? If so, what did you do about it. My doc had me try neurontin. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and hugs to all.

Blessed Easter to you Carol. My neuropathy is only manifesting itself on my left hand and feet after a year of Taxol and carboplatin.
I think we are all different. For the last month, I have had a totally numb spot on my longest middle finger of the left hand while the tingleness was on the last two fingers and palm. My oncologist said this was not neuropathy but probably a pinched nerve from some developing arthritis last week when I complained. My finger joints were stiff every morning and getting worse. I take 500 mg of Vitamin B-6 and L-glutamin for the neuropathy and have been for most of my treatment. ((Hugs)) Saundra

Carol - I've been diagnosed with neuropathy also - in my hands. It got worse after I went back to work - I'm a secretary. I've had the "buzzing" feeling in my hands for many months but took the B6 complex and that helped. Once it started getting worse and waking me up at night they started me on Neurontin 900 mg a day plus Amitriptyline just at night. I guess the combination of these 2 act as a pain reliever and allows me to sleep soundly. I do not have any neuropathy in my feet though - which I consider myself lucky for.

Let us know what you decide to do and what helps best. Take care. Hugs.

Wow, did I ever have it in my arms! I remember waking up one night and having this horrible burning sensation all the way up and down my arms. Then it turned to pain. I asked my husband to please massage my arms - I thought it would help (BIG MISTAKE). It only made it worse. Eventually, I found out it was neuropathy, and I also got it in my feet. The nights were the worst. I even went for an EMG to be sure that's what was going on. The neurologist gave me neurontin. It did not help at all. My gyn/onc gave me Amitryptoline - it also didn't help. But after I started taking B-6 and and L'Glutamine I noticed a big change. Eventually all symptoms subsided. I honestly know that the B-6 and Glutamine is what really helped.

Luv and hugs, and prayers that your pain will go away soon! You have a blessed Easter too!

Hi..I have it in my feet. I agree with Monika. The vitamin B and glutamine work, but you have to keep it up. Neurontin made me dopey and didn't help. Sometimes the best things are the natural ones. One thing I have learned, once the buzzing/tingling/gotta move/numbness gets going, I don't touch my feet or massage them. It actually makes it worse. And also for me, walking, even though my feet are numb, seems to help a little. Hope you find something to help you. Cindy

My wife has been describing her neuropathy as like an electric buzzing or shock. Bzzzt bzzzzt. Different than last time, which finally abated. We're two months out from end of treatment. I think last time it took about a year to let up? observations?
