As for me when I've made it to the 5 yr mark, I will go out and celebrate and get off ALL meds...and get on with life. Keep up the checkups and be well..:)

Kudos for you making the 5 year mark. I'll be interested to see what response you receive. What does the oncologist say is the next step.

My oncologist isn't sure about that one. He says there is a drug becoming available that will make it possible for a person to continue taking tamoxifen, I'm not sure about arimidex. I will need to see that stats to determine what is really needed before I sign on for another 5 years.

Hi, my first time and was looking though all the comments and questions when I read yours. I am also 5 years out and will be done with Arimidex in Aug. My doctor wants me to be on a study. Research has shown that there is a 2% chance that the cancer could return. This study is to see if another 5 years on Arimidex would give us 100% cure. I wouldn't know if I was on a Placebo or Arimidex. They would follow me for the rest of my life. I like the idea of being checked, but have still not decided what to do. I have all the faith in my doctor and that he wouldn't suggest it if he didn't think it would be good for me. Have you heard of any one on this study or heard about it? I am interested in hearing from anyone that knows about it or is on the study now.
